Previously it was possible to assign a favicon to all of your bookmarks, but that favicon would only show up on a tab for exactly that URL. The moment you started browsing the bookmarked site, let's say example.com to example.com/whoops/, it reverted back to the original. At least that's how it was for me with 3 different add-ons.

Now, with this extension, most bookmarks don't accept custom favicons (which I know is due to Firefox's limitations), but they do show in tabs even when I browse the site. Subdomains need extra favicons.

It seems Firefox users sadly can't have custom favicons for both bookmarks and tabs. The way it is now, Favicon switcher does a great job.
One suggestion, though: Please enlarge the add-on window just a tiny bit. Right now, I have to hover over URLs to identify them. With 100+ custom favicons, that can get a bit tiresome.

Useed it for several localhosed services, like LiteLLM, what not always provide favicon (e.g. in DB-less mode)

This is an excellent way of blocking that "dark pattern" where a site puts a red dot on the favicon to keep you coming back.

i have the same webapp on two diferent servers an it works perfect for me.
but.. i cant find a "buy-a-coffee-button"

no star option? Could not get to function at all. Telling note from dev " so if you've bookmarked the page before, this extension won't be able to change it. " Huh?? then why bother? Moot, since it doesn't work even on a new bookmark.

I have many Google Documents pinned in my browser and all their icons are the same non-descript, beside saying it's a Google document. Since I've installed this add-on, I have a different favicon for each of the document I have pinned. Productivity: increased. Mission: accomplished.

Tried multiple times to get this to cooperate with bookmarks, which is all I need an extension like this for. No dice. Tried with multiple sites that have never been bookmarked, real ones, fake ones, etc.

This isn't really on the dev, it's Mozilla's adamant refusal to allow users to modify icons that's at fault.

Installed 5 minutes ago, couldn't be happier, easy to install, and fun. But also useful, I had two icons for new tabs that I visit daily for work, I was able to change Jetstream to a SOQL icon as I use it for Salesforce and I changed Trello to their own, obvious, Trello icon. Recently switched to firefox for primary work and these kinds of extensions are helping make the switch even better.

Very nice addon! Thanks a lot. I used it to change the favicons of my pinned Nextcloud taps. I downloaded the favicon.ico for nextcloud calendar from github - and used the following URL-pattern: https://nextcloud..../apps/calendar/* I just drag and dropped the downloaded *.ico file to the small window when asked. :-)

Some time after a website is loaded, the custom icon will be displayed. However, when firefox is closed, it does not work anymore.
