The Short Version
We, the developers of LookStuffUp, do not collect, store, or have access to any of your personal information, search queries, or browsing history. Your data is your own. The extension is designed to be completely private.

Information Handled by the Extension
To provide you with contextual information, the extension needs to handle two types of data locally on your computer:

Highlighted Text: When you highlight text on a webpage, that selected text is sent to various third-party services to get relevant search results. This text is sent directly from your browser to the service provider. This data is never stored by the extension, and it is never seen by or transmitted to us.
Optional API Keys: If you choose to use the enhanced Google Search feature, you can provide your own Google API Key and Programmable Search Engine ID. These keys are stored exclusively on your local computer using your browser's secure, synced storage (chrome.storage.sync for Chrome or browser.storage.sync for Firefox). They are only used to communicate directly with the Google Search API from your browser and are never transmitted to our servers. We do not and cannot access these keys.
Third-Party Services
The extension sends the text you highlight directly to the following third-party services to perform a search. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these services. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies to understand how they handle your data:

Data Security
We have designed the extension to process everything either on your device or directly between your browser and the third-party APIs. No data passes through servers that we control.
