Open external links in a container — Denys H

— DeronLJ, pred 6 letiI have been waiting for something like this for a long time. I can finally set up my password manager to open different accounts on the same site in different containers.
Edit 09 May 2020
Here is an example you can share. I use KeePass 2 password manager, which allows an override URL for specific entries. I have two Amazon accounts, which I open in different containers. In the Override URL field of both, I put
cmd://{FIREFOX} ext+container:name={GROUP}&url="{URL}"
The entry I put in KeePass' Work folder automatically expands to
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" ext+container:name=Work&url=https://smile.amazon.com/
The entry I put in KeePass' Personal folder expands to
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" ext+container:name=Personal&url=https://smile.amazon.com/
Exceptionally useful.

objavljeno ob pred 5 letiThank you! This is a very interesting use case, do you mind if I share it in the description as an example? Also, can I ask, what kind of password manager do you use?

ext+container:name=MyContainer&url=https[:]//mozilla[.]org
(eliminate the brackets around the colon & period] Then, search network.protocol-handler.external.ext+container in about:config and double click it to set boolean=true, and you'll eliminate the nag screen!
Thank you Denys H! - Ocenjeno z 5 od 5— Sergey, pred 4 meseci

It's normal to 'disapear' page icon when change path to url in bookmarks into e.g.: ext+container:name=MyContainer&url=https://mozilla.org ??

Are you planning to add something along the lines of detecting a potential container?
For example, we assign a container to a domain:
*google.com* -> google container
And if, for example, we click on a url call matching the pattern in another program it will open us automatically in a specific container.
Think about this, it would be a brilliant solution! - Ocenjeno z 5 od 5— Uporabnik Firefoxa 18251720, pred 2 letomaNew Firefox update added a warning each time a tab is opened, someone on github seems to have found a way to make it not appear. https://github.com/honsiorovskyi/open-url-in-container/issues/121#issuecomment-1869443971

- Ocenjeno z 5 od 5— Giulio, pred 2 letomaIs working perfectly with the latest version in 2023 ! Had only to figure out how to save bookmarks because it's not really clear. Save it as ext+container:name=MYCONTAINERNAME&url=https://mozilla.org
