i am wondering how i can save my tab groups. I close my window and all my tab groups are gone....

You'll need to have the "Restore previous session" setting enabled in your Firefox options so that your previous tab groups session can be saved. Tab groups are based on id'ing tabs and if your tabs aren't remembered, then we can't remember to group them
