Alby Go is a fantastic mobile app for anyone dipping their toes into Bitcoin Lightning payments, and its setup process is refreshingly straightforward truly living up to the “easiest to use” claim from the developers.
I downloaded Alby Go from the App Store (it’s also on Google Play), and installation took seconds no complicated registrations or endless permissions. The app opens with a clean, intuitive interface that doesn’t overwhelm you with jargon.
The real magic happens when connecting your wallet. I already had an Alby Hub running (self-custodial Lightning node setup), so I headed to Settings > Wallets > Connect a Wallet. From there, it’s as simple as scanning a QR code generated from my Alby Hub (or pasting the Nostr Wallet Connect secret if you prefer). You give the connection a custom name for easy switching if you have multiple wallets, and boom it’s linked in under a minute. No coding, no fiddling with channels or nodes directly in the app; it just works.
If you’re using another NWC-compatible wallet or service, the process is identical scan or paste, name it, done. The app feels lightweight and snappy, perfect for on-the-go payments without draining your battery or patience.
For beginners or node operators who want to take their Bitcoin with them, Alby Go makes the whole experience seamless. Setup was genuinely effortless, and now sending/receiving sats feels as easy as using any regular payment app. Highly recommend if you’re in the Lightning ecosystem 5/5 for simplicity! 🚀

Brilliant way to connect your Bitcoin lightning wallet to all sorts of apps with NWC. This is the future!

As an intermediate user I've tried almost every other product and alternative for BTC Lightning. I have to say that it's quite hard to operate your own LND node and provide everything from LNURL to an app or browser extension that connects and works with it.

I am super thankful to the Alby team, because this extension just connects to your AlbyHub and works and the heavy-lifting is done in the background. One disadvantage (from UX perspective) is that I have to enter my password every time I close my browser, but from security perspective I understand that can be necessary. Overall best extension there is right now out there!

Awesome Lightning extension for all things Bitcoin and nostr!

Alby Browser Extension is a must have if running Alby Hub on UmbrelOS. I've been hesitant to run a Lightning Node for years due to the perceived complexities vs a Bitcoin Knots Node that I've run for years. But Alby and their support team made this so easy, that my wife and I have NIP-05 NOSTR and ZAPs setup with my own domain name! Bravo Alby!

Thanks to the Alby extension I am able to sign by Nostr and have quickly access to my Bitcoin Lightning funds. It's free open source and their team is very active by supporting and looking into new feature requests. It work at best by combining it with Alby hub, which gives your own Lightning Node. Really recommended. wszystko open source
