Could you make one for netflix too? Space seems to be whichever button I pressed last, which is almost always the fullscreen button. What do you mean by "the case when focus is elsewhere"? The way this extensions works is whenever you press [Spacebar] key it will play/pause video on the page. The only case when it doesn't is when you type some text in search bar or comments section. I would be grateful for a more detailed explanation :)

But is it possible to narrow down the permissions request from "Access your data for all websites" to "Access your data on www.youtube.com" like the old "YouTube Spacebar Pause" extension?
Because I admit I don't want to give such a wide access )
