Edit: Dev sold the extension to Avast, calling the company "trustworthy" (LMAO). Avast has repeatedly been caught harvesting user data, collecting it through their browser extension and from Avast Antivirus and AVG AntiVirus from more than 100 million devices and selling it through a third party company to rake some cash on the back of their users.
I am not showing a notification on *every* update, only when I have something important to say, plus one call for donations every year. I believe you would understand that if you'd just knew how much time is needed to maintain it.
