Browser Permissions
Rearview requires the following browser permissions to function:
- history: Access your browsing history for local storage, displaying browsing lists, and filtering based on access time.
- storage: Store extension settings and history text data in the browser storage space of your local device. The extension cannot access your other local data.
- favicon: Display the icons of the websites you have visited for visual presentation.
- scripting: Capture the content of the web page to implement full-text indexing of history.
- incognito mode: (Optional) Users need to temporarily check "Enable in Incognito Mode" when manually building an index of existing history. This will open an Incognito window and capture content without modifying the history.

Data Collection & Usage
All browsing history, search indexes, and extension settings are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to the developer server.
Rearview collects your country or region of residence based on your IP address, to provide localized service content and product optimization. The information will be anonymized and will not be associated with any personal identification information.
Rearview collects runtime errors and device information (such as operating system type and version, browser model and version) to improve our service.The information will be anonymized and will not be associated with any personal identification information.
Rearview uses Google Analytics and Umami to collect the above information. The information will be anonymized and will not be associated with any personal identification information.
AI Feature
Rearview does not directly provide LLM (large language model) functions. The following situations will occur when the data leaves your local device:

You actively configure the API key of a third-party AI provider
You actively input a question in the AI assistant window and submit it
The text of your question the snippets of history records directly related to the question(such as the title/url/web content of web pages associated with search keywords) will be sent to the server of the AI provider you configured. The processing of the data is completely under the privacy policy of the AI provider.Please read the privacy policy of the AI provider you selected.

The data will not be transmitted to external servers before the API configuration is completed. Rearview does not store or relay any interaction data between you and the AI provider.

Search Feature
The search of your history title, URL, and content will be performed entirely on your local device.
