Simple mass downloader nga George Prec

nga Frédéric Jeanbart, 4 vite më parëIt works nicely. However, the interface is NOT "simple", utterly akward and non-intuitive. For instance, one has to dig uselessly in order for it to simply keep the download list (resource list, load page links, active or passive queue wtf man) between sessions else it gets automatically deleted even if you don't manually "delete list"(and you need to go back to the source page). I've loaded a list, then clicked on the option icon, and when I got back everything was deleted from the list... The only links that it automatically keeps are those that are already downloading and "incomplete" (in the "active" list...). I mean, that have not begun downloading. Those that were paused are deleted from the download list (weird) : thus this plugin is useless, since you can't interrupt a download and then exit the browser, as only those that haven't begun are kept... I don't know really, but It seems that it actually integrates the browser's own doanload engine, hence the lack of a true pause feature (download from where it was paused after a reboot for instance), at least in the latest FF version. You can save the download list in a file and then load it back, or load it into another download manager, however most free download managers can also do this.
Select links, then "add to resource list" for not downloading then right away, but that list is lost if you close the browser, go into the setup window or whatnot : you MUST put them in the "download" (active?) list. And if you close the browser while it's downloading, it cancels the current downloads (they're not kept automatically), and you must go back to the web resource in order to get the links back. You need to pause the download, but even then you lose the list when coming back. And I can't find how to save the list although I was sure I've already did this (or did I?).
When the most common and simplest functions are NOT so simple and intuitive enough to get by the UI, as one needs to dig through tabs and button clicks while having to fumble over other functionalities and losing lists in doing so, it's not good. I've kept it only for the possibility of saving download lists. Now using something else.

Far too often in batch mode, which is its primary selling point, rather than downloading the file required it instead downloads the html page and worse still then claims its the rar or zip file that was the original target. It reports what was a failure as a success. That it cannot recognise what is a successful download is a fundamental flaw and one that makes it unfit for purpose.
As a result at the end of a batch download you are left with an almighty mess where perhaps 50% or more of the file downloads have failed and there is no easy way to fix it.
Instead you have to sort the files out manually and then manually redo the downloads. SMD gives you no assistance in error management.
The lack of information (eg the links actually used) data export capability (eg a list of the failed links), the ability to change the order of items as viewed (eg you cannot order the items on screen by size etc they are fixed in their original import order), logging features (eg what has failed and what hasn't) etc, all of which, if available, might assist in error rectification, undermine any value this might have.
Instead of saving time, SMD doubles the amount of time needed to achieve the task with treble the frustration, As such its not fit for purpose especially if you have tens or hundreds of downloads to complete in a limited timescale. Its more trouble than its worth and equally does not provide sufficient guidance on how best to use it.
I really wish I'd remembered why I first stopped using this before I tried it again. Its going to take me hours to sort this mess out! - Vlerësuar me 4 yje nga 5 të mundshëmnga Kasper, 2 vite më parëIt would be nice if the download folder could be freely chosen (not just the download folder or a subfolder of it.
It would be nice to indicate if you want to replace the files instead of adding (1), (2) - Vlerësuar me 5 yje nga 5 të mundshëmnga bolynu, 3 vite më parë

It would be nice if the download folder could be freely chosen (not only the download folder or a subfolder of it) but I can live with that. - Vlerësuar me 5 yje nga 5 të mundshëmnga 16857659 përdoruesi Firefox-i, 3 vite më parë
