I imagine the feature would work like this: If I lock the time in, via some sort of button below the main panels on the Settings menu or something, I can't change the timer anymore, and have a select amount of times I can override, both of which will be that way for the next 24 hours, or until the Reset timer. That way, the amount of time I have is 100% definitive and it forces me to do something else after it runs out. That way, I feel like I can rely on this add-on way more to at least help me manage my issues.
I still say it is a great addon! It has helped me in many instances, but I think it needs features like the one I suggested to prevent self-sabotage.
Yes, this is literally an edit 7 months later, but I really urge the necessity of such a lock-in feature. Many of the nice aspects of this time tracker go out the window the moment you realise that you can just keep extending your time by going into the settings, and just resetting it like that.
This practically makes any actual self-management completely reliant on whoever uses it, and I feel like i represent an example of a user who really needs an add-on like this, but who can't really reap the benefits to their maximum potential, as the ADHD brain loves making excuses to keep extending the time.
The lock-in feature would exist to specifically make it clear that the time I have is the only time I got. I feel like it would genuinely make this add-on one of the best ones out there, and it would be less destructive than many of these "anti-addiction" add-ons that just remove features and make it a pain in the ass to use Youtube instead of actually making it easier for me to manage myself.
4/5 stars. 8/10 points. - Vlerësuar me 3 yje nga 5 të mundshëmnga brockar, 7 muaj më parëIt works fine but every day I have to save the daily limits because it doesn't update the next day. I mean, whenever I start a day it tells me that I already used all the time I had for Youtube.
I set it to count from 8am but it keeps counting from 12am.
It's quite annoying so I uninstalled the extension.
Otherwise it works perfect, maybe it's because I have FMulti-Accounts Containers but I don't know. - Vlerësuar me 2 yje nga 5 të mundshëmnga Adelene, 10 muaj më parëI got this for the time tracker but that doesn't work; if a youtube video ends and I don't have autoplay on and don't start a new video, it keeps adding time to the tracker even though no video is playing.
Edit: It looks like there's a bug where the tracker keeps counting time if the youtube tab is in the foreground but firefox as a whole is in the background.Përgjigje zhvilluesi
postuar më 10 muaj më parëThat is correct. This is by design - the extension's main goal is to limit the time you spend on YouTube which includes scrolling, reading comments, etc. and not just watching a video.
Note that it only tracks time spent if you have YouTube open as the "active" tab. It should not count towards total time spent if you have YouTube opened in the background (there is a setting for this - enabled by default), or not in the active tab. - Vlerësuar me 5 yje nga 5 të mundshëmnga jF, 10 muaj më parë10/10 extension with great customizability and abundant number of features. very much love that youtube music can now be excluded!
