I installed the companion app because Videodownloadhelper kept saying that it could not download videos without it.
The companion app doesn't work. There are no instructions or guides on how to get it to work, and I can't find any way to uninstall it.

Every video downloaded has a huge QR code water mark. I was under the impression that this would only happen if converted. The watermark does scale either so it take up a quarter of the resolution making it useless.

Sorry! After years of good services, I think I don't Video DownloadHelper really needs a "companion software".

Nutze ich schon seit Jahren und war eigentlich immer halbwegs zufrieden. In den letzten Wochen häufen sich jedoch Probleme mit dem Video Downloadhelper. Er bringt den Firefox zum Absturz, erkennt fast keine YouTube Videos mehr und bei vielen Seiten erkennt er zwar den Videostream und bietet auch den Download an, speichert dann jedoch nur eine 150 kb Große Datei auf der Festplatte, an Stelle des Videos. Diese Datei ist dann ohne Funktionalität. Auch ein Zurücksetzen auf die Standardeinstellungen und Deinstallieren/Neuinstallieren brachte nichts. Das Tool ist damit eigentlich unbrauchbar und nutzlos geworden. Hoffentlich finde ich eine geeignete Alternative.

Old version used to work flawlessly, not you have to pay to register the 'companion app' so you can removed the stupid QR code that it sticks on your video. I removed this app, and will look for a more user friendly (read FREE) video downloader. Used to be a good app, now its just a money grab.

I am very dissatisfied with the recent version of the download helper. It no longer works as it used to. I am looking for different options, will definitely uninstall the download helper as soon as I find a different download software.

This "free" extension will only work when you purchase their Companion app

Add-on was great, until they added the HUGE QR code to every saved/downloaded video file.

Really disappointed, this addon will add QR code on any video you'll download, to remove it you need to pay... I find it senseless to pay when there is dozens of download addons out there. Plus this thing is really outdated, UI is NOT intuitive and really cumbersome. Anyway there are many downsides of this addons, just download something more up to date and simpler to use.

Uses all ram and processor, downloading short video is very long

Used to be good but now want's to download external .exe helper. Not gonna happen . This is a sellout to get you to install spyware on your computer.

U serious? Addon got such extensive permissions and still asks for shady 3rd party software even more? Instant delete.

Not good, since they started asking for an auxiliar app to be installed the quality decreased immensely. Currently it is not working.

Was brilliant until the companion app update, that took a lot to update & now fails every time, I'm not particularly tech savvy but the update instructions were near useless & when complete VLC player would no longer play video, so had to reinstall new version to get that working again, no idea why that happened but it was fine before the update.

Used to be GREAT! I've been using this extension for years and years. I understand that the way it works had to be changed because of changes from Firefox recently, but now it's a mess. I'm using Firefox on a MacBook Pro with the latest Mac OS.

1. No way to tell if a download is happening. I guess it's doing it with the companion app? All I know is I ended up with a dozen files in my DWHelper folder with no indication they were there before I thought to look.

2. HUGE QR CODE WATERMARK. Hey, here's a great idea, let's ruin your video for you and charge you to NOT fuck it up. Fuuuuuck that. It doesn't warn you about this when you add the extension or download a video.

Look, I get that the developer has done this huge product for free. But I'm unemployed and broke and want to save some videos WITHOUT a watermark on them. Fuck me, right?

Yeah, this extension took a huge nosedive to uselessness. There are free video download sites for places like YouTube that you can find with a simple Google search. I suggest using those.

most useful functions require Premium, there are better free alternatives available.
