It's just a shame that people have to go to the trouble of creating and using extensions to overcome a basic defect and terrible and user-unfriendly design choice in Firefox that still hasn't been fixed after all these years. 🤦 - 5 üzerinden 5 puanyazan: Firefox kullanıcısı 15970479, 5 yıl önceBrilliant. Saves that useless mouse click.

Great for adding file types on sites you frequent a lot to avoid annoying save dialogs, but there's nothing it can do if multiple sites all classify the same extension in multiple ways. Thems the breaks.

The Do this automatically... box was always greyed out. This fixed it! And now the rar file type shows up in Firefox's list of 'Applications' for easy management n case I ever wanted the old behavior back. Thanks so much!! :)

I always end up going back to Chrome after a few weeks with Firefox because I view a LOT of PDFs for my job and you always have to click seventeen things to get them to open properly. This extension completely fixed it and I could not be happier.
- 5 üzerinden 5 puanyazan: qwerty, 6 yıl önceVery nice add-on! I created and installed a desktop java application called xyzapp.exe, and associated it in the OS with custom file extension .xyzapp. I used Content-Type Fixer to define content type application/x-xyzapp, and used the Firefox options to configure Firefox to open (rather than download) .xyzapp files with my xyzapp application. However, they get automatically downloaded anyways. If I tell Firefox to open .xyzapp files with any other app (e.g. Notepad), it works fine. Is this a content-type issue, or does Firefox not permit the launch of privately-developed apps?

gönderilme: 6 yıl önceHi qwerty, I thought the same way you set up Notepad to open a new content-type should work for any application. Firefox would normally save the file in the TEMP folder and launch it using the Windows shell by passing the path to the file to your app. Does that work on the command line:
C:\path\to\xyzapp.exe %TEMP%\myfile.xyzapp - 5 üzerinden 4 puanyazan: element, 6 yıl önceHow do I make it open a torrent with utorrent? I don't understand how to enter the application properly in the settings. I tried writing application/x-utorrent or application/utorrent, or application/x-µtorrent but it doesn't do anything... help! I still gave this a positive rating because this is a big problem in firefox and I want to see it supported! But it's not working for me, or I don't understand how to get it to work.

gönderilme: 6 yıl önceHi element, first use the extension to define the Content-Type you want to use for the specific file extension. Then when Firefox shows the dialog to Open or Save, use the drop-down next to Open with to select the application you want to open the file.
If the torrents do not have a standard file extension, then a different method would be needed. You could post a question on Mozilla Support (https://support.mozilla.org/questions/new/desktop) or on Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/) for more specific advice. - 5 üzerinden 5 puanyazan: Firefox kullanıcısı 15195505, 6 yıl önceWorked to change SWFs from playing to octet streams for download

- 5 üzerinden 5 puanyazan: n3m, 6 yıl öncevery COOL ! I had to switch my useragent on-the-fly to ff66 and back, to be able to write this with waterfox but it was worth it! this addon is doing a real nice trick, for demo see: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1247067
click on a .pls link and have VLC launched without further ado!
Comes in SUPER HANDY! well done! - 5 üzerinden 4 puanyazan: FuzzysAudioVideo, 6 yıl önceThis extension is exactly what I need for fixing some broken PDF download links on a vendor's website. Is there anyway to have this extension become enabled by default when launching Firefox, instead of requiring me to click the icon with each new session?

gönderilme: 6 yıl önceHi, thank you for the suggestion. This is now available in version 1.1 (June 9, 2019). - 5 üzerinden 4 puanyazan: orange, 6 yıl öncei thought i'd be able to i.e. run a file with the assciated win. program,/start exe from browser
EDIT: thanx for your reply. yeah its about executable files. there used to be an extension called "download dialog tweaker" where u could tell ff to run/open those. i miss that.Geliştiricinin yanıtı
gönderilme: 6 yıl önceHi orange, what is the file extension? After you assign a suitable Content-Type, you should be able to instruct Firefox what to do with it in the Download dialog or on the Options page. However, there is an exception for executable file extensions like EXE. For EXE and other executable file extensions, Firefox will not show Open in the Download dialog, no matter what Content-Type you give them.
