gönderilme: 7 yıl önceThanks for the review and comment about not running on specific domains. This feature is already available by clicking the extension's icon in the browser bar, and toggling the "Site Privacy Protection" option. Perhaps it's not clear enough, however, so we'll look into how we can improve this.
- 5 üzerinden 5 puanyazan: Gina Robertshaw, 7 yıl önceI've been using Duck Duck Go for a long time, and ANY search engine (or website for that matter) that helps protect my identity is a necessity on my list. Fortunately, I haven't had any of the problems using Duck Duck Go that a few people reported (but noticed you corrected in connection with the websites involved). I must say that I disagree with the person who said blocking advertising trackers and ads destroys media revenues and forces businesses to become even more invasive. Most of us check out at least one--but usually more--websites in search engine results--so we'll definitely see ads on the websites we visit. Also, even before using Duck Duck Go, whenever I searched for something I almost never looked at ads on a "search results page" anyway--I only looked at the results for the information I was searching for. I also think if most businesses behaved in an upright manner by not allowing third party tracking, we wouldn't have to be so afraid of being tracked; but as it is, we do have to be concerned about this. One additional point...most people I know also use additional protection like No Script and/or other similar apps, which also helps protect our identity. So I'll keep using my Duck Duck Go!!

It's probably an interesting extension for the privacy-illiterates who can't be bothered to install more than one privacy-related extension and couldn't care less about what happens under the hood. But its incredibly minimalist interface makes it very hard to understand what it really does, so I feel much better protected using my usual Ghostery + uBlock + HTTPS Everywhere + Smart Referer + ScripSafe.
Of course, I'm keeping DDG as my default search engine though ^^
@previous review author: Startpage still uses Google under the hood (it's basically an "anonymous" proxy towards Google), so IMHO DDG is way better as it doesn't feed Google data. Startpage can still be interesting when you really really want to use Google but still want it to be slightly more private than the normal way of using it. - 5 üzerinden 4 puanyazan: Firefox kullanıcısı 13589155, 7 yıl önce
