If you enter a URL in the address bar, it opens in another tab, and there is no way to turn that off. That means it isn't possible to just enter a URL and have it open in the current tab. I have no idea why it's set up like that, but it makes it close to worthless.

I should mention that I use the search field next to the URL field for searches, but even if I use Google's own field, it still doesn't work. I have Firefox version 59 0 2
