For the concerns about the hostname and ip permission, see https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Permissions#access-ip-address-and-hostname-information . The permission ONLY means that the addon can make DNS queries, while it still has NO ACCESS to your computer's IP adress. Furthermore, it doesn't have a central server and has no intension to "mine" your data.

I've been using UBlock Origin for about a year and it's so great that I've registered my Firefox account specifically so as to give them a 5-star rating amidst all the fake hysteria about the permissions the new CNAME unmasking functionality needs.

Its soo effective. Best ad blocker in the world. Also don't know how it does it but even best sites cannot detect.

Apparently some advertising companies are mad that 1.25 has found a way to block the previously sneaky cloaked first-party scripts, and this review section is now filled with shills concern-trolling and lying about 'cryptomining' and 'IP address leaks'. Anyone reading this, just google Ublock 1.25 and read the explanations for yourselves. The fact that ad companies are so desperate to smear this addon is the best possible answer you can get to the question 'is this a good ad blocker?'
