It works for most websites using the default method. When the default doesn't work (for a minority of websites), you can specify two more methods.

It remembers your chosen method for that domain. You can also choose a method per current tab.

I really like the dark background theme however I have found it really slows down the FF Browser. I would like to be able to just enable it when I want, but I haven't figured out how to do this. I'm probably missing the instructions that are right in front of my face. At any rate, I like the dark background but I'm removing it for now because of how it slows down the browser.

it exactly works like the name. it's lightweight and does one thing great! although dark reader has better looking options, it's 10 times as bigger and i consider it bloated.

Is there an extension which can change background colour for New Tab? Every time I open a new blank tab it is so white that my eyes hurt :((( Instead of white i would like black or grey.

eats ram like crazy. virtual swap file uses 26+ Gb of memory. ubuntu 16.04. ff86 when i kill process the memory frees and add-on stops working. when is firefox going to fix their bright white blue light f-u and your eyes display for web pages? why are we forced to use addons like this that jam up my laptop to reduce the pain caused by these 'look directly into the sun'' webpages? why don't more websites provide night or less eyeball shredding versions of their pages? and why does this addon need so much ram?
