Select Translate is an open-source extension that shows an instant popup translation right on the page.

How it works
  • Set your preferred language once — then simply select any word, phrase, or sentence to see the translation.
  • Choose how it triggers:
  • always on selection, or
  • only while holding Alt / Ctrl / ⌘ (many users prefer Alt).

Privacy & network
  • No account required. No user tracking.
  • Translation results are cached locally on your device to reduce unnecessary network requests.
  • Requests are sent only to:
  • https://translate.googleapis.com (translation)
  • https://dictionary.skyeng.ru — only when translating a single English word into Russian (dictionary card).
