Lubb Writer is a privacy-first application. Here's how your data is handled:

Text you select: When you use the extension to enhance text, the selected text is sent to your configured API endpoint for processing. You control where this data goes.
Extension settings: Your preferences (theme, default mode, API endpoint, etc.) are stored locally in your browser.
API credentials: Your API token is stored locally in your browser and is only sent to your configured API endpoint.


1. How Your Data Is Used

We operate no central servers. Your text is only sent to the API endpoint you configure. We do not:

Receive or store any of your text data
Track your API usage or requests
Use your text for training machine learning models
Share your data with third parties
Track your browsing activity


1. Data Retention

We retain no data. Your selected text is processed in real-time through your configured API endpoint and is never sent to our servers. Any enhancement history stored locally in your browser can be cleared at any time through the extension settings.
4. Your API Provider

When you use a self-hosted API, your text stays within your infrastructure. When using third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.), your text is sent to their services per their privacy policies. We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of your chosen AI provider.
6. Cookies

Lubb Writer does not use cookies. All data is stored locally in your browser's storage.
7. Security

Your data security depends on your configuration. We recommend:

Using a strong API token for your endpoint
Self-hosting the API for complete data control
Using HTTPS for your API endpoint in production
Keeping your browser and extensions up to date


1. Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

Access: View your settings at any time through the extension popup
Delete: Remove enhancement history and settings through the extension
Control: Choose your API provider and endpoint
Own: With self-hosting, your data never leaves your infrastructure


1. Children's Privacy

Lubb Writer is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
