Політика приватності для OnionRouter
OnionRouter does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal data.
What the extension does
- Routes
.onionURLs (and optionally other domains you select) through a local Tor SOCKS5 proxy running on your machine. - Reads and writes settings (active routing mode, whitelisted domains, WebRTC preference) in your browser's local storage. These never leave your browser.
- Communicates with a local helper program (the "companion") via Mozilla's Native Messaging protocol. The companion runs on your machine and is never contacted over the network.
What the companion does
The companion program (open source at github.com/LouisCourrian/OnionRooter) makes exactly one type of network connection of its own: downloading the official Tor Expert Bundle from
https://dist.torproject.org/ on first run, only when no local Tor is already running. Its SHA-256 is verified against a hash pinned at compile time before the binary is executed. All Tor traffic is then routed through the local Tor daemon on 127.0.0.1 — it does not pass through any server controlled by the author of OnionRouter.
Third parties
The Tor Project (torproject.org) operates the Tor network. Your traffic through Tor is subject to Tor's own privacy characteristics, not OnionRouter's.
