Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Troves ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Troves browser extension (the "Extension"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
1. Information We Collect

Conversation Metadata: The Extension collects titles, timestamps, and platform identifiers from your AI conversations on supported platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok). This data is extracted from the sidebar DOM of each platform and stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB.

Conversation Content (Pro): For Pro users who enable full-text search, the Extension may index conversation content to enable searching within chat bodies. This content is stored exclusively in your local IndexedDB and is never transmitted to our servers.

Authentication Information: If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name, and a secure authentication token via Google OAuth. This is used for account identification and subscription validation. We do not access your Google password or any other Google account data.

Subscription Information: If you purchase a Pro or Team subscription, we collect your email address for license validation purposes. This is processed through Stripe and our license validation endpoint.
2. How Your Data Is Stored

All conversation data is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export it. We do not operate any cloud sync service, and we have no access to your stored conversations.

Exported backups can optionally be encrypted using AES-256-GCM with a passphrase you provide. Encrypted backups cannot be read without the original passphrase.
3. Browser Permissions

The Extension requests the following permissions, each with a specific purpose:

activeTab: To detect which AI platform you are currently viewing and extract conversation metadata from the page.
storage: To persist extension settings, license state, and sync status.
tabs: To detect platform changes when you switch tabs and to support the Google sign-in flow on Firefox.
scripting: To inject content scripts into supported AI platforms for conversation detection.
identity: To authenticate with Google for account sign-in.
sidePanel (Chrome) / sidebar (Firefox): To render the Troves sidebar panel alongside your AI conversations.
Host permissions (chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, grok.com): To inject content scripts that read conversation lists from these specific platforms only.


1. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Stripe: For payment processing and subscription management. Stripe's privacy policy governs how they handle your payment information. We do not store credit card details.
Google OAuth: For sign-in authentication. Google's privacy policy governs how they handle your account information. We only receive your email, display name, and an authentication token.
Firebase Authentication: For secure session management and token verification.
Cloudflare: Our API is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Only your email address and authentication tokens are sent during validation requests.


1. Data We Do NOT Collect
   
   We do not collect browsing history outside of supported AI platforms.
   We do not collect personal information beyond sign-in emails and display names.
   We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs.
   We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
   We do not transmit your conversation content to any server.
2. Data Retention & Deletion

Your conversation data persists in IndexedDB until you uninstall the Extension or clear your browser data. You can delete all stored data at any time by uninstalling the Extension. Exported backup files are stored wherever you choose to save them and are under your control.
7. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the Extension's updated version. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
