BetterPortal — Bookmark Manager for Azure Portal

Azure portal too slow? Losing your context and train of thought between page loads? Try this extension!

BetterPortal is a fast, keyboard-driven bookmark and history overlay for Azure Portal — so your most-used resources are always one shortcut away.

Press Ctrl+Space (Cmd+Space on Mac) anywhere in the Azure Portal to instantly open an overlay to your bookmarks and recent Azure history, grouped by directory.



🔖 Bookmark Azure resources instantly
Save any resource page — VMs, App Services, Storage Accounts, Key Vaults, databases — with a single keypress. Add custom aliases so resources are easy to recognise at a glance.

📜 Automatic history tracking
Every Azure resource you visit is remembered automatically. Jump back to anything you've opened recently without hunting through the portal's own navigation. Promote any history item to a permanent bookmark with one key.

🏢 Multi-tenant & cross-directory navigation
Work across multiple Azure AD tenants? BetterPortal groups resources by directory and handles cross-tenant navigation automatically — injecting the right tenant GUID so you always land in the correct directory. Rename directories with friendly aliases.

🔄 Cross-device sync
Optionally sync bookmarks across all your devices via your Chrome account (up to 150 bookmarks). Disabled by default — your data stays local unless you opt in.

🔍 Instant search
Filter across all bookmarks and history by name, resource type, or subscription — instantly, across all your tenants.

📋 One-click copy
Copy any resource's full navigation URL (ready to paste into a ticket or doc), or copy a directory's tenant GUID directly from the group header.

🎹 Keyboard-first workflow
Navigate entirely without a mouse. All shortcuts are fully remappable in Settings → Keybinds:

• Ctrl+Space — open/close overlay
• ↑ ↓ or j k — navigate items
• gg / G — jump to first/last item
• Ctrl+d / Ctrl+u — jump down/up 5 items
• Enter — open resource
• t — open in new tab
• / — search
• a — bookmark current page
• d — delete
• e — rename bookmark or directory
• y — copy URL
• ? — settings
• Esc — close

🌙 Dark & light themes
Matches your workflow preference. Dark mode is the default.

📦 Import & export
Back up your bookmarks as JSON. Useful for migration, sharing, or keeping a local backup alongside sync.

BetterPortal is built for Azure engineers, cloud architects, DevOps and platform teams, and anyone who spends significant time navigating Azure Portal resources across multiple subscriptions and directories.



🔒 Privacy
All data stays in your browser. BetterPortal does not transmit any information to external servers. Bookmarks and history are stored locally using Chrome's built-in extension storage. No account required. Bookmark sync (optional) uses Chrome's own sync infrastructure — still no external servers.

- All overlay shortcuts are now fully remappable (Settings → Keybinds)
- New keybinds: y copy URL, t open in new tab, Ctrl+d/Ctrl+u jump 5 items
- New vim navigation: gg first item, G last item
- Keybind conflict detection — reassigning a key auto-unassigns it from the previous action
- Cleaner footer hints with proper wrapping
