Isn't it weird and annoying how Discord file downloads open a tab for no reason in your browser, and then you have to go close it manually?
I found it weird and annoying. So I created a little addon that kills that tab.
I did my best to make it so it doesn't look at, touch, etc, anything that's not strictly necessary to accomplish detecting when this happens, and closing the tab.
It only touches things that have a "cdn.discordapp.com" url. And the only thing it does, or cares about doing, is detecting, and closing, that stupid blank empty useless tab.
It waits a trivial amount of time to ensure the download triggers, and then closes it.
That's it.
It tracks nothing except the toggle state for enabled/disabled. Literally just a little tickbox to track if it's on or off.
It stores no data, doesn't monitor or track any weird user info or browser info, talks to no servers, uploads nothing, nada.
I'm just sharing a QoL improvement that I did for myself, in case anyone else is annoyed and wants those tabs to be automatically closed.
I am not a developer/coder by day, and I do not have any way to extensively test this on multiple computers/versions, so I've marked it as experimental.
