I just tested some SOCKS4 proxies they are working fine .make sure the proxies that you're trying to set are working. you can find fast open proxies of all types on this site: https://checkerproxy.net you also can check your proxies there -- after you close Firefox and open it again you need to click on add-on icon to reactive the proxy , it disables the proxy automatically
