Both this and MCQ are Quantum-compatible updates of Morning Coffee (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/morning-coffee/), which was originally released in 2006. As the original author has not updated Morning Coffee, multiple developers have created replacements. MCQ was not the first of these, but it was the first to leverage the Morning Coffee connection.
Each replacement provides a different user experience, but the goal of Quantum Coffee is to be the most feature-rich and intuitive to use.
