Synopsis turns any article or selected passage into a concise, structured Markdown digest. The summary streams in token-by-token and reads like a real article, not a wall of bullets.

Bring your own provider. Choose Gemini, any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or a local Ollama server. Your API key is stored only in your browser's local extension storage and is used only to call the endpoint you configure — Synopsis has no backend.

Local-only mode. With Ollama running on localhost, no API key is required and no page content leaves your computer. The extension ships a tightly-scoped network rule that handles Ollama's CORS allow-list automatically, so it works out of the box with ollama serve.

Reader-first. Each digest has four sections — Article Digest, Main Points, Key Details, and Bottom Line. The popup shows reading time, time saved versus the original article, light/dark themes, adjustable text size, three length presets (Brief / Standard / Detailed), one-click copy, and Markdown download. A small provenance chip tells you exactly which model wrote each summary.

No telemetry, no remote scripts. Page text is sent only to the endpoint you configure, and your API key never leaves your browser.
