Windowed Container Workspaces lets you organize your browsing into named workspaces, each running in a dedicated Firefox window with a dedicated Firefox Container.
Perfect for:
- Freelancers and consultants managing multiple clients
- Developers working across multiple projects or environments
- Anyone who needs separate logins for the same service (e.g. two Google accounts)
- People who want to keep work and personal browsing completely isolated
Features:
- One workspace = one window = one Firefox Container
- Tabs are saved automatically and restored when you reopen a workspace
- Tab groups (including names and colors) are preserved across sessions
- Workspaces sync across devices via Firefox Sync
- A badge on the toolbar icon shows which workspace is currently active
- New tabs opened inside a workspace window are automatically assigned to the correct container
- Per-workspace storage usage indicator shows how close you are to the sync limit
Privacy & Data
Windowed Container Workspaces stores and processes the following data:
Stored locally on your device (
- A randomly generated device ID
- Your device name (auto-generated or manually set by you)
- Mapping of open workspace windows
Stored locally and optionally synced via Firefox Sync (
- Workspace names, colors, and icons
- Tab group names, colors, and collapsed state
- Tab URLs and page titles
- Tab pinned state
- Device ID and device name
No data is ever sent to the extension developer. The extension option "Share browsing activity with extension developer (yes / no)" was added because of the very unclear Mozilla Add-Ons Policies when the extension relies on Mozilla accounts and native FF sync function via Mozilla servers. I decided to add this to avoid any disputes with Mozilla.
If you use Firefox Sync with Add-ons sync enabled, all of the above
the same way Firefox syncs your bookmarks and passwords. The developer has no access to this data. You can disable this in Firefox Sync settings
(about:preferences#sync) by turning off Add-ons sync.
The Export/Import backup feature saves data only to your local filesystem.
No network requests are made.
Sync requires a Firefox account with Sync enabled.
