DNS Lookup lets you resolve DNS records for any domain directly from your browser toolbar. No external websites, no CLI tools — just click and look up.
Supported record types: A, AAAA, MX, NS, TXT, CNAME, SOA, PTR, SRV, CAA
Features:
- Look up any domain against Google or Cloudflare DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH)
- Card-style result view with clean typography and copy-to-clipboard on each record
- Export results to CSV with one click via browser download
- Automatic lookup history (last 20 entries) saved locally
- Favorites: save domains you check often for quick access
- History and favorites tab for easy re-lookup
- Light and dark theme — follows system preference by default, togglable
- Options page to clear history/favorites and switch providers
Privacy:
- No data collection whatsoever
- All data (history, favorites, theme preference) stored in browser.storage.local — never transmitted externally
- The only outgoing request is the DNS-over-HTTPS lookup you explicitly perform
- No third-party analytics, no ads, no telemetry
Permissions used:
- dns — to perform DNS lookups via the browser's built-in resolver (resolves to IP for display)
- storage — to save history, favorites, and settings locally
- downloads — to export results as CSV files
- Host permission for https://dns.google/dns-query and https://cloudflare-dns.com/dns-query — required for DoH API calls
