来自 Firefox 用户 17761284， 2 年前EDIT: dev response is wrong, i understand what dearrow is, i read the description of the addon before i paid for it LOL. the problem is that it sucks at doing what it says it does for fundamental reasons.
clickbait = "sensational and unappealing packaging (the titles and thumbnails)" and tons of clickbait thumbnails and titles get through dearrow because this addon requires users of an addon who're allergic to clickbait already to willingly submit themselves to enduring low quality content in order to submit a new relevant title and thumbnail and remove said clickbait with dearrow. it just won't happen and prevents the addon from working as intended
dev, i recommend removing the crowdsourcing element of this addon *or* merely asking for donations instead of outright payment. you can't do both and you can't expect people to pay you to do work for you. a refund is actually kind of a ridiculous thing to offer. you want me to hop in your email to beg for a dollar? get real LOL. when you ask for payment you invite criticism and a refund is not relevant.

I paid a dollar for this app expecting to remove the clickbait from my Youtube experience but instead most of the actual clickbait (content farm videos with 1mil+ views) continue to appear unaltered while the titles from any even mildly popular genuine video creator get stripped of all creativity and even narratively spoiled in some cases.
the problem is fundamental due to the fact that this app is crowdsourced and because most of the actual clickbait is from channels that are so low quality that even the users of this app don't want to put in the effort to fix it. meanwhile the videos people actually put effort into get neutered because some geek thought the title wasn't definitionally accurate enough.
that's another thing, why are we paying to crowdsource our work? i only realized i was paying to work after i forked it over so shame on me i guess but it certainly left a slimy taste in my mouth afterwards.

You seem to be looking for something different from what DeArrow is.
DeArrow at the moment is not for filtering and hiding videos that are low quality, but instead of about reducing sensationalism in all videos (the high quality ones too). You seem to be looking for something very different, which is fine.
When I look at my YouTube feed, I see many high quality videos created by great people. The problem is that they are all obscured by sensational and unappealing packaging (the titles and thumbnails).
The goal of DeArrow is to be able to look at that feed of already high quality videos without having to deal with the current sensationalist title/thumbnail trends and know what which of those videos to choose from based on what their actual content is.
I hope that makes the purpose more clear :)

发布于 9 天前At the moment, sometimes the first recommended video will be blank. There is an update to fix this, but it is currently still being reviewed by Mozilla. - Used to be amazing. Now with the latest Youtube changes it's very inconsistent. Most videos that use to have custom names and thumbnails no longer do, and only a few here and there still have them. The majority of videos also don't even allow you to submit new titles anymore, the textboxes to do so are absent.

I love that the thumbnails can be set to just show a random screenshot from the video. It gives me a much better idea of what the video actually is rather than relying on the overly-clickbait-y thumbnails. The search results page feels much calmer (and actually reminds me of the early youtube days).
- The settings are not nearly granular enough for me to customize this experience to my liking, and the style that the community has decided to adopt is not *descriptive* it's *verbose*. Concise language, emotive language, evocative language are not bad things, inherently. Videos from some of my favorite channels were unrecognizable and significantly worse.
I wish I could say this could be solved by creating a "blacklist" mode, where only specific, named, egregious channels I select would have their titles and thumbnails replaced, but I installed this in order to scrub the obnoxious titles and thumbnails that Veritasium loves to use, but the community suggested replacement for one Veritasium video was so much *less* clear and descriptive than the original that it completely defeats the point.
I wasn't bothered by the request for payment, since it took me significantly less than the six hours of the free trial to realize this wasn't for me. Additionally, unlike some people, I recognize FOSS development is labor and deserves to be paid. I just wish people realized that also applied to those who script, film, edit, and design thumbnails for videos on Youtube.开发者回应

- 评分 5 / 5来自 Dark_Ronius， 3 个月前I didn't realise I needed this until I saw it as a feature in my Adfree Youtube app on my LG TV. I actually don't mind the arrow thumbnails, but I'm growing to really appreciate (and contribute to) the title swaps. The thumbnail swaps feel too obvious and ugly, but the Titles feel very transparent and get to the heart of what as video is about (this is I think personal preference, I guess I don't mind "sensational" imagery to grab my attention as long as the Title is descriptive) I find I'm both avoiding videos I have no interest in, but also actually finding new creators thanks to their "de-arrowed" video titles. You can re-arrow titles with a single click (I presume this does the same with thumbnails too).
The free activation took me about a day, and honestly now I've started using it think I will contribute, at the least I've already contributed with a few titles of my own.
