Exactly what I was looking for. Doing one thing and doing it well.
It let you put the proxy of your choice and toggle it on or off when needed.
If you're looking for a good list of proxies, there it is: http://spys.one/en/ complete and informative and regularly kept up to date.

Doesn't seem to handle HTTP(S) proxy authentication, thus unusable for me.

Works well. Another reviewer said it didn't work for them on Ubuntu 16.04, but I'm on that and it works fine for me.

By far the best proxy toggle addon I could find from a perspective of privacy and simplicity-utility ratio. Any other addon asked for too many permissions or doesn't supported proxys with login data.

Works great on my Windows machines but unfortunately not on my Android device. It just take no effect when I toggle it. The IP stays the same. I'm using the latest Firefox and the same paid Socks5 proxy on all devices.

this addon requires the less permissions than some of the others.
seems to work fine if you need to toggle your connection without going through firefox pref page.

(However, the graphics of the toggle button has one problem. Because it is a transparent icon used only black, it can not be seen under the system theme with a dark background. -1)

The extension use its own settting independent with proxy settings in firefox preferences. The proxy setting in firefox preferences should be set to "direct" (no proxy) for this extension to work (at least on my FF59). This is not mentioned in the introduction or some where else. Anyway finally it works.

In the past there are addons whcih direcly toggle firefox proxy settings, e.g. QuickJava (http://quickjavaplugin.blogspot.fr/p/welcome.html). Now with the new FF57 extension system I don't koown where to find this kind of extensions.

Does exactly what promised and nothing more; the code is very short and easy to review.

It's unfortunate that you have to set up the proxy in the add-on settings, but that's a limitation of Firefox itself (the add-ons are no longer allowed to toggle the switch in the browser's settings, since Mozilla's move to WebExtensions).
