It works, but it's not what I expected. I'm using Firefox for Android on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+.
In order to have text read aloud, you need to either highlight text yourself or just be on the page you want read (in its entirety, with all headings & image description text, etc) and then you trigger the add-on in the browser's vertical elipsis menu (or is it a skinny hamburger?). Then, you will be in a totally new tab with only the text from the page and a pause/play and settings button.
I was hoping the "popup" option under this addon's settings would allow me to just highlight some paragraphs I want read, for instance, long-press it and be able to choose "read aloud" or something like that. Maybe I'd even see a tiny popup once triggered with the pause/play controls or it would be in the toolbar.
I ran into the issue that I couldn't get the voice to stop talking after pressing stop, changing tabs, and even closing Firefox (had to kill Firefox manually in my phone's "app info"). It would be great to be able to hear the reading after leaving a tab, but the ability to pause & start again are obviously important as well.

Interestingly, everything worked fine in Google Chrome. I managed to fix it by changing the Firefox language to English and reinstalling the extension. After that, the extension’s name changed from Russian text to "Read Aloud: A Text to Speech Voice Reader," and the Google login window, which wouldn’t open before, finally worked—I was able to sign in.
By the way, the link in the Russian version didn’t work, but it might work if you replace %D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B9%D1%82%D0%B8 with sign in the Russian localization. I don’t need this anymore, but someone else might want to give it a try. Overall, I haven’t found a more convenient TTS tool—this extension is great, but it’s a pity there’s no text highlighting; that would make it even better.
Столкнулся с проблемой: дополнительные голоса в Firefox не работали, хотя мне очень нравится Amazon Russian (Maxim). При этом в Google Chrome всё функционировало без нареканий. Решил проблему, сменив язык в Firefox на английский и переустановив расширение. После этого название расширения изменилось с русского на "Read Aloud: A Text to Speech Voice Reader", а окно авторизации через Google, которое ранее не открывалось, наконец заработало — я смог войти.
Кстати, ссылка в русской версии не работала, но, возможно, если заменить %D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B9%D1%82%D0%B8 на sign, она начнёт работать и на русской локализации. Мне это уже не актуально, но кто-то может попробовать. В целом, более удобного TTS я не нашёл, расширение действительно отличное, но жаль, что нет подсветки текста — это сделало бы его ещё лучше. - I can no longer use the extension. The same error always occurs when I want to have a text read out to me, the text is not read out with the Google Translate voice. Even the update from 07.05.2025 has not fixed this problem. I was always enthusiastic about this extension, but I have been thinking about deleting it from Firefox since the beginning of 2025.

- Was GREAT until a few days ago. Still works fine for regular pages but no longer working for pdf. Skips lines, stops after a couple of pages and if restarted, starts from some page way before. Does not advance the pages of pdf, like it used to. etc, etc. Please go back to the working version.
