Enhancements

• Added support for assigning different new tab URLs to tab groups or tab containers. Tab group rules take precedence over container rules, and rules can also be configured through enterprise policies. This requires new silent permissions to read tab groups and contextual identities
• Added a theme switcher to the settings page for choosing light mode, dark mode, or automatic appearance based on the system preference
• Removed the dedicated button for changing the settings shortcut from the settings page. Shortcut settings remain available through Firefox's add-ons manager

Bugfixes

• Fixed unexpected behavior with tab groups and container tabs when the option to focus the website instead of the address bar is enabled. New tabs are no longer treated as related to the previously active tab, preventing them from being opened in the wrong container or attached to an unrelated tab group

• New Tab Override does not collect any data. A new property in the extension manifest makes this explicit. Users now see a corresponding note during installation and in the add-ons manager

CHANGES FROM VERSION 15.0.0:

- Focus option! The option to set the focus to either the web page or the address bar has been reintroduced. That's why the cookies permission is needed again (as in New Tab Override 14.3.0 and older). This feature is only available in Firefox 80 and newer.
- Tab position! You can now change the opening position of new tabs. That's why the browser settings permission is no longer optional and requested for all users at install time.
- Dark mode support! When the system-wide dark mode is enabled, the options interface of New Tab Override is dark now.
