This extension works very well for scanning, just right-click on a QR code image and it reads it. It can also encode the Page's URL into a QR Code. It can also encode selected text or the Page's URL into a QR Code!

It looks grayed because It's a right-click extension where you have 2 choices (Generate or Read), it reads QR code on website very well and even propose you to open the link on a new tab.

EDIT: it cannot read bigger/more complex and latest QR Code
