Simple Tab Groups is "exactly" what I was looking for to replace the old Tab Group Manager! I delayed upgrading from the old version of Firefox for a long time because I didn't want to lose the ability to group tabs. I tried several other tab managers first, but they didn't do what I wanted. STG is very intuitive, very functional, and easy to learn. I can't say enough good things about it! The only thing it lacks, compared to the old Tab Group Manager, is the ability to resize groups in the "Manage Groups" display, but this is a minor issue, and in some ways the ability to scroll down for additional groups is an improvement over Tab Group Manager, which couldn't scroll and would get very crowded with a lot of tabs and groups.

    Worked well until recently. Now every time you open FF after closing it, some of the tab groups are in different windows, some might be empty, and the backups just aren't there. This extension has totally lost its purpose as being able to save what you're doing through restarts.

    Restore backup no longer works with firefox May 13 2026 update! Looks like an abandoned extension. Been over a year since last updated. What a shame. It was the best of its kind!

    It's really a good option for the lack of a better one... It gets the job done by hiding tabs from other "workspaces" into the hidden tabs list. Didn't notice a lot of bugs.
    But a few things that really push me to use other browsers: it's not as elegant, very simple design, doesn't feel native and natural (compared to vivaldi, arc, zen, opera, etc); and two very annoying things: tab groups don't hidden, but are kinda empty, but still show previews, which brakes immersion and the fact that it spawns a directory every single day in your home folder ("STG-..."), and never cleans it up.

    My favorite browser extension, hands down. Yes, the last Firefox update broke it. Need your tabs back? Settings > Backup Your Simple Tab Groups > Enable Auto-backup (you should be doing this anyway). Then Restore Backup every time you relaunch Firefox. (I delete existing data and revert to my last save.)

    That's how I'm managing until the maintainer updates this extension. (Based on their location in Ukraine, I'm willing to give them some slack.)

    I don't know why anyone would use this. Does not reliably save tab groups.

    keeps crashing when trying to restore backup. tab groups load but not the pages in them.

    It's okay. But your max is going to be 4 groups before tabs/browser starts to feel laggy on MacOS.

    К сожалению, дополнение неисправно. При попытке восстановить группы из резервной копии, браузер просто падает и восстанавливаются пустые группы.

    Simplesmente NÃO funciona. Gastei mais de 3h criando grupos, mas a extensão SINGLE TAB GROUPS simplesmente não grava os grupos que criei e os apaga sempre.

    Nope, great Idea but every some updates it kills everything and is not relaible. Now lost 200 tabs ....

    All open tabs that were not in a group suddenly disappeared, as I was managing groups. They only reappeared again when the extension was uninstalled. That's a terrible user experience. Avoid.

    This is a super helpful extension!
    There is one thing that could be improved. It would be great if the native Firefox groups remained related to the tab group. When I switch groups using Simple Tab Groups, the Firefox groups disappear along with the tabs. It's like having tabs and groups within groups.

    Exactly what I have been looking for. I love that you can have multiple groups that share the same container. I use it to separate school subjects, but I want every school subject to be in the school container. I also like the automatic tab unloading feature that saves ram.
