wót Ashley, 3 år sidenIt works, but it's not what I expected. I'm using Firefox for Android on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+.
In order to have text read aloud, you need to either highlight text yourself or just be on the page you want read (in its entirety, with all headings & image description text, etc) and then you trigger the add-on in the browser's vertical elipsis menu (or is it a skinny hamburger?). Then, you will be in a totally new tab with only the text from the page and a pause/play and settings button.
I was hoping the "popup" option under this addon's settings would allow me to just highlight some paragraphs I want read, for instance, long-press it and be able to choose "read aloud" or something like that. Maybe I'd even see a tiny popup once triggered with the pause/play controls or it would be in the toolbar.
I ran into the issue that I couldn't get the voice to stop talking after pressing stop, changing tabs, and even closing Firefox (had to kill Firefox manually in my phone's "app info"). It would be great to be able to hear the reading after leaving a tab, but the ability to pause & start again are obviously important as well.

Also I don't like that it automatically sets your setting to allow this developer access to ALL your data unless you change it but even then it piggies back off of google.translate. Also doesn't even read my full text book page just the title and then the page number. I don't like the reading in the extra window either. Idk why its a recommended extension.

- Z 1 z 5 pógódnośonywót Joshua Weiss, én måned sidenAppears to use translate.google.com to provide the service, and the new one on me is that extensions apparently can't block other extensions' requests, since umatrix, ublock, etc can be set to block google, and Rethink still shows FF making attempts. So, it basically reports your browsing to Google...that makes it intentionally spyware in my book. FF's own builtin "Read Aloud" will have to suffice atm.

-This tool is by far the most useful add-on I have on my Firefox. It allows me to quickly listen to wiki pages and Comments on videos without having to look at the text. I also enjoy the feature to add languages. Allowing me to Listen to Dutch pages and stories as well.
-I would suggest maybe a short tutorial video or a Q&A page on how to maximize the usefulness of this tool as many might have over looked features of this add-on. Such as Tutorial on alternate language support and adding voices as well as Tutorial on speed and pitch options.
-Currently Working with Firefox 145.0 (64-bit). Win10 Pro. Version 22H2. - Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót Wužywaŕ Firefox 19582396, 2 måneder siden

- Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót Ahmed, 2 måneder sidenThe best option currently since there's no annoying ads and extremely light. Would be great if it had a pop-out functionality. Keyboard shortcuts are sufficient though.

- Z 4 z 5 pógódnośonywót Peca, 3 måneder sidenIt's a quite good tool. It allows to listen article or web. Is is especially good when walking or have something other to do (like dish, laundry...). The voice synthesis is sometimes weird which is rather an issue of selected TTS engine than extension itself.
The most annoying flaw is loosing position in a long text when paused or internet signal lost. This mean manually locate part of text where to continue. Any search function or automatic bookmark insertion would be very useful. - Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót Seän "frostbyte" Shepherd, 3 måneder siden
