Privacy Policy for CodeSynapse
Last Updated: September 3, 2025
Your privacy is the foundation upon which CodeSynapse is built. This policy outlines how the extension handles data, always adhering to our core principle of not collecting your personal information.
Our Core Privacy Principle: We Do Not Collect Your Data
Let's be perfectly clear: We do not collect, store, track, or transmit your personal data from your browser to any servers that we own or operate. We have no access to your accounts or your code.
CodeSynapse is designed to work entirely within your browser on your own computer. The "data" mentioned below refers to the information the extension needs to save locally on your own device to function as you've configured it.
- How the Extension Handles Data Locally
To perform its functions, the extension requires you to provide some information, which is then stored securely on your computer.
GitHub Personal Access Token (PAT): You provide this to allow the extension to sync your solutions. This token is stored in your browser's secure local storage and is never transmitted to us.
GitHub Repository Information: You provide the name of the repository where your solutions should be saved. This is also stored locally.
Codeforces Data: The extension accesses your submission and profile pages on codeforces.com to retrieve your accepted solutions and generate the progress charts. This process happens entirely within your browser.
- How Your Data Is Used
The data handled by CodeSynapse is used exclusively on your local machine to provide the extension's features:
Your GitHub PAT and Repository Name are used only to make authenticated API calls directly from your browser to GitHub.
Your Codeforces Data is used to trigger the sync process and to generate the progress visualization charts that you see on your profile page.
- Data Storage: Local and Secure
All configuration data, including your sensitive GitHub Token, is stored locally on your computer using the browser's standard, secure storage APIs.
The extension does not send any of this information over the network to us or any third party. The only external communication is the direct connection from your browser to the Codeforces and GitHub APIs, which is necessary for the extension to work.
- Data Sharing
We do not have your data, so we cannot share or sell it. It's that simple.
- Your Control Over Your Data
You have 100% control over your data.
You can view or change your settings at any time in the extension's options.
You can revoke the extension's access by deleting the Personal Access Token in your GitHub account settings.
You can erase all data stored by the extension by simply uninstalling it.
- Changes to This Privacy Policy
If we ever update this policy, we will change the "Last Updated" date at the top. We are committed to maintaining our core principle of not collecting your data.
