wót girst, 7 vite më parë**There is now a well-enough open source alternative at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/temporary-containers/ that I can whole-heartedly recommend instead. **

this addon would be great, if the author
1. had made it available under an open source license
2. had _not_ used javascript obfuscation to further cloak the inner workings of the addon
pretty-please release the source code, dear author! you will be praised for it and other people can help improve the code.
if you are worried others will take your code and run with it, use the GNU GPL license - it protects against it. if this is not of concern, use the MPL.
ETA: @author: glad to hear that! I personally do not need any modifications at this time, but I would like to verify the code myself. (EDIT again: found one: addon appears to be incompatible to firefox developer edition 57 - but the main point of open source is verifiability. ) Out of principle, I do not run addons that obfuscate the javascript source. if you've got questions about 'open source' or anything in general, feel free to send me an email (it is at the bottom of https://gir.st/ - won't post it here for spam reasons)
ETA: it's a matter of principle for me.

But what improvements do you need?
Edit: You know that we have to send the sources for review to the Firefox team. They also check that the obfuscated code was generated from those sources.

I would like to see the context menu item for bookmarks in the bookmarks bar. - Z 2 z 5 pógódnośonywót syldub, 4 vite më parëExcellent addon, but it does not work since Firefox 89 anymore

- Z 3 z 5 pógódnośonywót Elena Dragomir, 5 vite më parëI need something like this add-on, but it crashes Firefox 74 stable on Samsung Galaxy S8 plus, unfortunately (
- Z 1 z 5 pógódnośonywót derFisch, 6 vite më parëDoes not work on my phone (pixel 3, Android 9). No options appear despite having the addon enabled. Will change review if a fix is found.
- Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót keithhsturgill, 6 vite më parëExactly what I was looking for. A quick tab for a Youtube watch without ruining my algorithm and other similar scenarios.
- Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót KlausDevWalker, 6 vite më parëSuch a wonderful extension! Its feature had to come built-in in Firefox! No more open windows just to use a private tab (much needed when you're having login issues). Could you add an option to open containers in the same tab? Anyway, thanks for sharing it with us.
- Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót Daniel Santa Cruz, 7 vite më parëWorks as advertised. I use it constantly, every day.

- Z 3 z 5 pógódnośonywót vertigo, 7 vite më parëGreat concept and I expect it will be very useful, but there are a few things that could be improved:
- It needs the ability to customize the hotkey. I want to use it as the default when opening new tabs, but I can't set it to use Ctrl+T
- It opens the tab to about:logopage, which causes an address isn't valild error and, more importantly, takes the focus off of the location bar. It should open tabs to the same page normal tabs are set to open to (blank in my case) or, if that can't be done for some reason, it should have an option to allow that to be specified.
- I'm not sure if it's possible to change a container on the fly, but if it is, it would be nice to be able to have it automatically switch to a specified container based on domains (e.g. if I open a new tab and go to Facebook, have it automatically switch to a predesignated Facebook container). Edit: Looking at Temporary Containers, it appears this is in fact possible. Also, by providing domain-specific rules, it could be set to, for example, typically open links in new tabs in the same container (as it currently does) but open links on certain domains (e.g. mail.yahoo.com or mail.google.com) in new tabs in new containers.
- An option to open links from other programs in a new container
- An option to delay removal of containers for a specified amount of time
Edit: After further research, I'm now questioning the usefulness of this. It seems that first party isolation (FPI) does essentially the same thing and is more robust than containers, and it can be enabled by simply changing a setting or two in about:config. This makes containers only useful in special circumstances. I'm not knocking this addon, and perhaps some will find it useful, but AFAICT at this point most people that are looking for the functionality it provides would be better suited by FPI. - Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót LeDeMon De Ricota, 7 vite më parëPerfect substitution for private tab browser with group memory but we need one option in the tabbar icon for open a selected container and no the predetermined like "cg 1"
- Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót Arcionquad, 7 vite më parëThank you. This simple extension is just what I need.
Felicidades.
- Z 3 z 5 pógódnośonywót CanIregisterThisTime, 7 vite më parëWorks nicely, but proprietary was a mistake. Have gone with Temporary Containers now, an addon that has always been open.
- Z 1 z 5 pógódnośonywót Denis Lisov, 7 vite më parëNot only proprietary but obfuscated. Sorry, I have no reasons to trust this addon.

jo se napisał 7 vite më parëWe have to provide the sources and the method of obfuscation to the Mozilla team for review. - Z 3 z 5 pógódnośonywót Andrei Petcu, 7 vite më parëReally nice addon but why is it proprietary? I would use it if it were under a FOSS license. Heck, maybe I would even send a patch.
- Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót Wužywaŕ Firefox 12348611, 7 vite më parëA phenomenal way to segregate one-off web site visits and data using Firefox containers. Works as advertised. Also works well with other addons such as Sea Containers, and Tab Center Redux.
- Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót Wužywaŕ Firefox 13487715, 7 vite më parëVery good Add-on. I'm using it as a replacement for Private-Tab which isn't working anymore since Firefox 57 with WebExtensions.
It would be great to make the "Alt + c" shortcut configurable. Or at least give some options for the shortcut. I think many users came from Private-Tab where "Strg + Alt + p" is the shortcut we used for years. So it would be cool, to have it open a new container now :) - Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót Alexey Murz Korepov, 8 vite më parëVery useful for temporary enter in accounts and good alternative to Private tab extension, that not works in Firefox 57!
