    This extension does what it says: it takes a screenshot of some image (inside Firefox window) and OCR's it, and in the end you can copy the OCR'd text. It does not need any 3rd party software, only an extension in Firefox. Thank you and 5 stars.

    The new permissions are needed so that Copyfish can communicate with the UI.Vision XModule, which it uses for taking desktop screenshots, for the new desktop OCR feature. Of course, you only need to install the UI.Vision XModule if you want to OCR outside of the web browser, on the desktop. Typcial use case for this are grabbing text from desktop apps, popup dialogs, images, invoices, PDF,...).
