The developer listens to the people and updates the product based on user feedback consistently and squashes any bugs. Personally I don't find the new design to be intrusive at all. If anything it's less intrusive and blends in very well to the youtube UI. What was once a white bar constantly at the bottom of your screen, is now three dots that only opens if you hover over it on the youtube video media player. It looks much nicer this way.
All the other reviews complaining just can't handle change. Probably the same people that freaked out when phones switched to USB-C. The only thing I can think of is create a toggle in the setting to "use old UI" for those that simply can't handle change.

Refreshing the page, clearing cookies/cache doesn't fix this.
Sometimes they randomly work as intended but in most cases they don't.
This add-on needs to be updated.
