Apparently, YouTube have been slowing down Firefox users and especially users with adblockers enabled.
I thought it was a weird coincidence that both my Firefox and Mercury (a fork) browser experienced massive slowdown on YouTube. It wasn't just loading the YouTube pages, both of the browsers can't even load YouTube videos as fast as they should.
Both browsers were able to load YouTube videos at normal speeds again after disabling this plugin. I've tried disabling and enabling multiple times to be sure. Some Firefox users reported that they did not experience any of the slowdowns regardless of the news. It could be the usual experimental rollout that YouTube always do and perhaps my browsers' fingerprints changed the moment I disabled this addon.
As of now, YouTube is fast again even with this addon enabled.
---
It has been a great companion to my Malwarebytes Premium. However, recent updates have killed its efficiency and performance, making Firefox extremely slow.
I've noticed huge slowdowns every time I open Firefox. Not only that, I lost the ability to watch videos above 1080p with this extension enabled as it is simply killing Firefox behind the scenes for no apparent reason.
I only found out this extension to be the cause of it by using Firefox's troubleshooting mode. As soon as I enabled this extension, Firefox became very sluggish and slow.
I'll write them an email about this but for now, avoid it at all costs. If you already have Malwarebytes Premium installed on your PC, I don't see a reason why anyone would need this companion extension.

Also, the 'Access your data for all websites' option is listed as optional, but it’s necessary for the program to work. I know you’ve been pretty transparent about how the data is used, but this does raise some concerns about data security as the company isn’t open-source. - Z 1 z 5 pógódnośonywót GlennS, преди месец

However, today it started causing a massive memory leak whenever I opened my browser. My memory utilisation goes from about 40% with the add-on off to staying at 100% with the add-on active and websites will barely load. Hopefully this is fixed soon and I can re-enable the add-on.

For Malware, and for Scams, global switches are terribly broken: after switching off globally at one tab, I find both features wrongly switched on globally at another tab. I'll gather debug logs and discuss in the forums.
Also, the release notes here at AMO are wildly inconsistent with the release notes at the Malwarebytes website.Wótegrono wuwijarja

The extension is interesting, but not fully optimized. There is a better extension. It probably takes up a lot of browser memory, I haven't checked it, but then I'll take a look at the time. - Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót Skwurl, преди месец
- Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót Wužywaŕ Firefox 18892832, преди месецWorks well for blocking spam and I've gotten a few warnings about certain sites. Some first time going and some I know to be legitimate, but that's how security goes. Still lets me go if I acknowledge the warning of course. The main issue is that some, though few, websites have loading issues. Mine specifically is my microsoft email through outlook/live.com When I go there I can't interact with much for a good 20 to 30 seconds. I've tried disabling the ad, spam and malware protections specifically for outlook/live.com email website and also disabling global protection of those features, but it still does the same. I specifically have to disable the "All protections" setting. So it seems like its still actively doing something even when i globally disable the 3 protections for all sites and only stops if I tick the option to disable all protections. I don't really care about that specifically, but just noting that seems to be why outlook/live email performance in the browser goes back to normally after disabling it. While I like the ad block feature enormously since it actually works, I don't want to disable the whole thing everytime i need to check my email so I'll just leave it off for now and circle back to it in a month or so to see if this issue is resolved with some kind of update. Been putting up with it for well over a year so its not a new thing. I just didn't think to leave a review about it until now. I would submit a report/ticket to malwares help center directly but it requires making an account and I just don't want yet another account. Hopefully they see this when checking reviews.
Edit: Actually it effects my google emails as well, just less so since the delay is one or two seconds I didn't notice as much though now that its instant its very noticable. The outlook one is basically instant when its disabled too just not as fast as google's email, but compared to the almost 30 second load time prior the difference is wild.
Edit2: March 30, 2025
I've updated to the 3.0.14 version and the huge delay in outlook email is gone! Bumping review to 5 stars since this removes the main issue I had with it.
Edit3: April 10, 2025
Updated to version 3.0.17 and a several seconds delay is happening now. Its a little better when I tell it to disable all protections for everything, but if I turn it off for only outlook then there is no difference so its still doing something again. If I disable the extention altogether then its based to instant speeds. Not sure what happened between the updates but its unfortunate. I'll try to install the 3.0.14 version and try to keep it from auto updating. Its also possible this is a firefox thing since it updates as well. So I'm not gonna just blame malwarebytes outright on this one.Wótegrono wuwijarja

We have an update pending approval by the Firefox team (v3.0.14), if after this release, you still see an issue it would be helpful if you could let us know please. - Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót Wužywaŕ Firefox 18889994, преди месец
