It works great for videos, but shorts will not play and have no controls after the first two, and you have to go back and hit play on the previous short, which starts the audio, then scroll down to the next short. I have found no way around this.

It works! YouTube is not autoplaying!

The complaints of this not working are old. It does work still. Does exactly what it says on the tin.

There was a change in YouTube's specifications on 2024.6.09, and "Enhancer for YouTube" no longer auto buffers when stopping autoplay.

So I used this add-on, and the video stopped with auto buffering without any problems.

doesn't work with playlists.

It doesn't work.

Only works sometimes. Seems to work with new YouTube pages opened.
However, I have pinned You Tube pages to Tabs bar at the top of my latest Firefox (61.0) 64-bit browser, so I can keep watching the long video the next day. When I restart my PC and browser the YouTube video starts to play again automatically, even though that pinned Tab isn't the active visible Tab. This is disappointing if you have to leave the PC after restarting, as that is the main reason I installed this app.

This extension really should work 100% of the time rather than a "sometimes it works, other times it doesn't" way.

It works perfectly, tested on Firefox version 56.0 64bit (linux).
When I open link in background tab -> no sound, no play.
When I switch to that background tab -> then video is played automatically, good work! thank you

YouTube used to let you turn off autoplay, but they removed that option a long time ago.

I used to use YouTube Center, which had an option to prevent autoplay, but with the new YouTube layout YouTube Center doesn't work, so I had to find an addon that did some of the things I needed.

If you open multiple videos in new tabs, you can't live without something like this.

Unlike the other addons, this stops the CURRENT video, not autoplaying of a related video. It also does not prevent buffering, only autoplay. These are both requirements I was looking for.
