Incredibly good extension that deserves more attention. Before I used it I was very frustrated with YouTube. It had a high tendency to recommend me videos that I didn't want to see and the comments on videos I did want to see were often overly toxic. While the website gave options to filter these things they were extremely limited and often felt like they did practically nothing. This extension does so much to help with that. Just type in a keyword often associated with the topic you don't want to see (ie the name of a new show or game you don't want to be spoiled on or things like "situation" and "downfall" to block poorly made video essays) and as long as that's in the title it will completely remove it from recommendations. I also appreciate that this extends to things like comments, playlists and especially channels. An issue I do have with this extension is that it doesn't extend to the contents within the video itself. There's been multiple times where annoying YouTubers bring up unwanted topics despite the title and/or video having no relation to it. You can simply block the video and/or channel afterwards though so its not that big of a deal. Overall very good extension for filtering unwanted and low effort videos. Thanks for making YouTube enjoyable again!

    I migrated to this after blocktube kicked the bucket because youtube is actually unusable without a way to block content, and it works wonders. It has a few hiccups every now and then but never in a way where it stops working.

    I would recommend this if you also get annoying videos / people in your reccs. You can send them to the shadow realm with a single click and use the blacklist for better coverage.

    Is it possible to ensure that members-only videos remain blocked/hidden on whitelisted channels?

    Yes! On the whitelist you can add the following modifier: "${!members}"

    Example:

    WhiteListedChannel001
    WhiteListedChannel002 ${!members}

    This will whitelist the channel named "WhiteListedChannel002" only on videos that is not members only. Members only videos from that channel will be blocked.

    Great extension. 8/10. I wish you could add keywords to video block page without having to unlock it with a password, a sync option so it keeps same settings between browsers also sometimes doesn't work it is not as consistent as it is in edge/brave browsers. Please get this extension on same level as chromium browsers versions. Thanks

    A little unreliable. Works most of the time, currently (August 2026), but has some issues with not blocking or offering the block options on videos, and has been like that for at least two months. Things are getting past it. It will still block most of the time, but be prepared to make a list then tell YT directly "I don't like the video" because the options this extension offered do not show up anymore. Like I said, blocking with a list still works most of the time, but no longer all the time. I have no other extensions outside of privacy badger and uBlock. They worked fine together before so I doubt those are the issue. I would still recommend this extension, I just hope the creator updates it soon.

    I use it to block music videos and it works but gosh it slow down so much its unusable

    It was hard to figure out how to do what I wanted, but it works. Though it's the only extension of mine that causes firefox to show "this extension is slowing down the page" message

    This is an essential addon. The developer is responsive and updates when YT changes its page structure. He's added a couple of features I requested. And, yes, I do buy him a coffee from time-to-time.

    It does bog down even on a very fast Macbook when the number of blocked items gets big. I have over 50k channels of slop, junk, and uselessness and often get the spinning ball as the extension analyzes the page and does its work. I sometimes have to disable it (with the convenient switch provided). This is a reflection on YT pushing junk and not the developer.

    There things that could be improved, but it is very nice to be able to block certain channels to appear in your recommendations. I wish there was ability to block channels in the recommendations but not in the search results or subscriptions. Overall a very useful tool.

    I really want to like this add-on as it promises some really useful features, but it just slows my browser down way too much. Blocking videos by categories or tags also doesn't work properly, with many videos with blocked tags somehow slipping through. If category and tag blocking was fixed, I'd change my review to 4 stars and put up with the lag. I've gone back to my previous YT content blocker for now.

    I am a student and I was having a hard time concentrating whenever I had to watch a youtube video covering some topic from class.
    All it takes is 2 steps: connect the free youtube data API from google and restrict every category apart from "Education".
    Highly recommendable.

    It's not working at all. I tried using this regex pattern to block all those annoying clickbaity videos with titles like "The X situation is crazy!" and it didn't block anything:

    \bsituation[\w\s]is[\w\s](crazy|insane|wild|unbelievable)

    EDIT: I tried it again with the developer's instructions and it is working as intended now. Thank you very much!

    Hello. Does the entire extension not work or is just this specific regex?

    Make sure that the regex is wrapped between slashes (/), and also add the "i" flag so it ignores if characters in the title is uppercase or lowercase.

    The regex would look like this:

    /\bsituation[\w\s]is[\w\s](crazy|insane|wild|unbelievable)/i

    The members only vids were diving me crazy, this seems to block them. I am truly grateful.
    I had tried several diff code lines for uBO that did nothing to block members only vids and I was well past highly annoyed.

    Annnnnd Re-re-reamending and uninstalling. Even with correcting my user-error, the extension continues to show me the full thumbnail, along with the prominent word BLOCKED. Hope it works better for anyone else who uses it.

    You can customize the overlay to not show the reason the video was blocked by going to the options page, go to "Overlays" on the left sidebar, then check "remove block reason". But the bold "BLOCKED" is not possible to remove for now. You can disable the entire overlay if you want by unchecking the "Show overlays" option. Thank you!
