by dbaser, 10 months agoChanged my original 1-star review to 4 stars after reading Developer response. I was originally under the impression that this requires Sign Up and is only a Free Trial of an extension. I thought this for a few reasons:
1) Before using, I read other reviews stating the same thing.
2) When I first tried to use it without an API token, it did not find any songs I tried. I then opened Settings and saw a field for an API token and the words "API token, paste it below" and thought that it must not work without an API token. I signed up for the API token (not knowing the API is a separate product) and after creating an account the dashboard shows that the user is on a 2-week Free Trial. I thought this applied to the extension, not the API.
3) There is a link on the main extension page to a Privacy Policy which differed from the one I read on the API dashboard, which further contributed to my impression that it is a paid extension, as I was unaware they are two separate products.
Now that I have read the Developer response, when I go to Settings, I can clearly see that it reads "If you're subscribed to the AudD® Music recognition API and have an API token, paste it below." I didn't notice this at first and thought the API token was required.
I have tried it and you can indeed use the extension to find songs without any API token. I gave the extension four stars instead of five only because the AHA extension is still better at actual song recognition. Thanks for the response developer! My apologies for assuming the worst in my original review.

posted 10 months agoApologies for causing confusion; the extension does not require a sign-up. You can use it without an API token. The API token field is for people with an active subscription. The free trial is for our API product and shouldn’t be used in the extension; the extension works without an API account and is completely free.
Extension users are subject to the add-on's privacy policy. Website sign-ups are not required to use the add-on.
(Thanks for taking the time to review! It’s valuable to know people might think a token is required; we’ll make changes to make it clear that it’s not.
Users can also reach us at hello@audd.io).
If there are any particular songs AHA recognizes that we don't, please also let us know- our music recognition accuracy should be higher on average

- Rated 2 out of 5by buraky, 8 days agoCauses bugs on netflix even when not activated for song search, renders the whole platform basically disfunctional.
Edit: I don't remember it causing any problem on youtube or other video playing websites. But netflix was the only platform which uses DRM. Not sure if it's related.Developer response
posted a day agoThanks!
We've not been able to replicate that, though. For us, the extension doesn't work on Netflix, but it doesn't impact the platform.
Can you share what's your OS and what specifically breaks on Netflix? - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14017374, 9 days agoThe addon got fixed, most of the 1 star are just talking about it or have unupdated clients.
Best music finder I found so far, great work! - Rated 4 out of 5by Wax, 17 days ago

posted 9 days agoWe’ve fixed this issue!
Starting with version 3.2.4 (it's live now! you can update the extension in Extensions -> Settings -> Check for Updates), audio should not be muted on any websites, and audio recording should work perfectly almost everywhere, including basically all video players.
Thanks for taking the time to write the review! It marginally prompted us to actually spend effort figuring out the issue, getting help from the community, and finally fixing it. That took hundreds of lines of code.- Rated 5 out of 5by tankistren, 23 days agoPerfect, got it yesterday for my browser, it had trouble with muting videos, but at the same day I got this add-on this problem get fixed, so now it's perfect for finding songs. Thank you developers for this add-on, cause it really sucked to not have normal song identifier in Firefox.
UPD:
Don't know how to answer normally, so I'll just update my review.
Well that's interesting, because from my side, only thing that I did was turning off then on add-on. Actually at add-ons manager at firefox, it's saying: "Last Updated July 7, 2025", so I thought that something changed from your side.Developer response
posted 21 days agoThanks a lot! Can you please say more about what fixed the problem for you? Because we didn't change anything and still need to address the bug
Edit: we had updated the extension description, but not the extension itself.
(That said, we're releasing a new version that should hopefully fix this issue for everyone.) - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19096994, a month ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Cmill, a month agoIt mutes the sound in the browser every time I try to ID a song playing. Have to refresh the page just to get sound back again

There is a known issue where it mutes your tab after searching for a song, which hasn't been fixed for months.

(Thanks for taking the time to write the review! It marginally prompted us to actually spend effort figuring out the issue, getting help from the community, and finally fixing it. Definitely wasn't the case of abandoning the extension or using it for advertising a service; it's just incredibly tricky to get audio recording working on Firefox, as the browser doesn't support direct audio capture from the tab. Took us hundreds of lines of fairly complicated code.) Developer response

But these days for some reason youtube and other video formats lose all sound whenever I try to use the extension. And need to be refreshed to get sound again.
Additionally the Reddit video player (cursed be its name) doesn't work too well with it and it can't recognise the sound from it.Developer response

What happened was that we tried to fix audio recording that basically stopped working on YouTube and many other websites, but introduced a bug that prevented audio from being played back. All of this should now be fixed, and the extension works almost everywhere.) - Rated 1 out of 5by Orchid, 4 months ago
