- Rated 5 out of 5by Madeyoulook, 3 months agoWas skeptical at first because of the amount of one stars, but it actually works great. Has given me no problems whatsoever.

- Rated 4 out of 5by dbaser, 4 months agoChanged my original 1-star review to 4 stars after reading Developer response. I was originally under the impression that this requires Sign Up and is only a Free Trial of an extension. I thought this for a few reasons:
1) Before using, I read other reviews stating the same thing.
2) When I first tried to use it without an API token, it did not find any songs I tried. I then opened Settings and saw a field for an API token and the words "API token, paste it below" and thought that it must not work without an API token. I signed up for the API token (not knowing the API is a separate product) and after creating an account the dashboard shows that the user is on a 2-week Free Trial. I thought this applied to the extension, not the API.
3) There is a link on the main extension page to a Privacy Policy which differed from the one I read on the API dashboard, which further contributed to my impression that it is a paid extension, as I was unaware they are two separate products.
Now that I have read the Developer response, when I go to Settings, I can clearly see that it reads "If you're subscribed to the AudD® Music recognition API and have an API token, paste it below." I didn't notice this at first and thought the API token was required.
I have tried it and you can indeed use the extension to find songs without any API token. I gave the extension four stars instead of five only because the AHA extension is still better at actual song recognition. Thanks for the response developer! My apologies for assuming the worst in my original review.Developer response
posted 4 months agoApologies for causing confusion; the extension does not require a sign-up. You can use it without an API token. The API token field is for people with an active subscription. The free trial is for our API product and shouldn’t be used in the extension; the extension works without an API account and is completely free.
Extension users are subject to the add-on's privacy policy. Website sign-ups are not required to use the add-on.
(Thanks for taking the time to review! It’s valuable to know people might think a token is required; we’ll make changes to make it clear that it’s not.

If there are any particular songs AHA recognizes that we don't, please also let us know- our music recognition accuracy should be higher on average - Rated 1 out of 5by Josxy, 4 months agoDoesn't work on Reddit. It just says "start error: can't find any unpaused media elements." when a video is playing.

posted 4 months agoUnfortunately, some websites play audio in isolated elements, which prevents it from being captured by a Firefox extension. On Reddit, the solution would be to mention u/auddbot, which will identify the song. Alternatively, you can use our Chrome extension. - Rated 4 out of 5by OKDmrz, 4 months agoMusic recognition works pretty well, but I think the widget could use some UI improvements. Like managing individual songs from the history (not just clear the entire list) and also a way to just view the list even if current tab is still playing music. Also synchronizing listening history across different devices would be great.

posted 4 months agoThanks, we'll take these improvements into consideration. Everything except for synchronizing the history seems very doable! - Rated 5 out of 5by Klementine Des Pêches, 4 months ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Mayank, 4 months agoThis addon is magical. It identifies background music/score from youtube videos and matches it *to the exact second of the original music* and then redirects me to a page that has multitude of options where I can hear the original music. Absolutely love this addon!
- Rated 3 out of 5by GrisburT, 4 months agoThe extension used to work perfectly, but since I changed computers the extension doesn't recognize anything at all.

- Rated 3 out of 5by 5sam6, 6 months agoThis extension only works when it wants to. Would have been a good extension but for some reason it cannot recognize songs half the time. When i still used chrome i used AVA music which performed way better than this. Sadly this is the best option available so i hope they manage to update this extension and make it better.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18455060, 7 months agoWhen it works right it is actually decent. However for the past 6 months it keeps on giving me an API token error even though I have a token (something I shouldn't need to do as AHA on Chrome doesnt need this or a payment plan). It is currently up to date with 3.1.6 but they clearly did not fix this issue like they said they would in response to a separate review. When I revoke the token and get a new one it starts asking for a payment plan. The only way to use this extension is to use temporary emails to get a new API token.

posted 4 months agoHi there,
We apologize for causing confusion. The extension does not require API tokens or signing up to work. The API token field is for people with active API subscription. Please remove an API token from the settings to freely use the extension.
We also sincerely ask that you don’t sign up for multiple API accounts. It is unnecessary (the extension works without a token!), creates a significant financial burden on our side (we have to pay to Auth0 for users), and violates our terms of service.
We will make it clearer in an update. - Rated 5 out of 5by CrazyWolf13, 7 months agoAbsolutely awesome!
Works very good, even with very little known songs from techno/hardstyle scene.
Was also able to recognize very new songs!
Felt like it works even better than shazam.
Huge thanks to the creators!
Only small downside, guess there is some problem with fetching the css for the settings page, looks kinda weird. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18249841, 7 months agoIt's so rare that I download an add-on with a specific function, and then it actually does the specific thing it's meant to do. I wanted to identify an instrumental in a YouTube video. It identified the instrumental in the YouTube video. THANK YOU. That's all I wanted.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Luneriane, 8 months agoI tried it on multiple songs, but none of them were right. It recognized the same music whereas the songs were different (similar style but still quite different).
