- Rated 3 out of 5by cprn, a year agoAdd on would be cool if it worked reliably without a mouse but it doesn't. Version 2.0 often doesn't open the search window when invoked by keyboard shortcut (ctrl+shift+period), and when it does, 8 out of 10 times it doesn't focus the input field so you have to press the TAB key 10 times before you can start typing. Focusing the browser's address bar (ctrl+L) and writing "emoji" works every time but it's still 6 key strokes so not that much better.
I tried to debug the focus issue and my best guess is it manages to invoke the `focusElement()` function and correctly focuses the input field but then the focus is moved to something else during the pop up render or creation.
IMHO searching through the browser's address bar would be better if this add-on provided a search engine instead - then every user would be able to configure their own keyword - or if the keyword was something short by default, like a "." (period character).
Other than that, it's an okay add-on. - Rated 3 out of 5by ariche2, 2 years agoi like it, but prompting me for a rating is a very good way to make me leave a mediocre one.

posted 2 years agoHi, thanks a lot for your rating. I see your point of not liking voting prompts.
I can reassure you the likelihood to see such a prompt is very low and e.g. only shown after you have used the extension sometime and not shown again if you have dismissed it once.
As this add-on is open-source, you can also check it's source code at https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/blob/main/src/common/modules/data/Tips.js to see more details, of you are interested.
Also notice there are other helpful tips that may occasionally been shown, but they are really kept to a minimum and many users do e.g. not know that they can help the add-on and support it by writing a review.
I am afraid this has disturbed you and want to apologise. If you have further issues or questions, feel free to ask or suggest a feature by opening an issue on https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/issues/. Thanks.
I hope this explanation helps to explain why it is done the way it is. As an independent add-on author I am always happy about good add-on ratings.
Best regards,

posted 4 years agoHi, thanks for your rating. I'm sorry that you are apparently having a performance problem.
For me, opening the popup usually takes less one second.
To troubleshoot this issue in more details, we'd need more information about your system (i.e. what OS and what Firefox version do you use?). It would be glad if you could open an issue on https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/issues/ and fill out the details there, so we can fix this problem in the next release. Also you can try changing the options (e.g. the emoji style) to see whether this improves the performance.
Let us know if this helped by adjusting your voting. Apart from that, if you have any other ideas or issues, feel free to get in touch. - Rated 3 out of 5by 444, 5 years ago

ty to the dev for a VERY quick reply.
I am seeing both coloured and black/white emoji.
However, there are some basic coloured emoji that are missing e.g. cry
i think my black/white emoji come from my win 7 segeo fonts (not very good).
it would be good to have more coloured emoji.
Perhaps it would be useful to be able to filter out some fonts, if you know you don't like the emoji style
Or at least for the emoji to report what font set they come from (for understanding their source).
An options button on the emoji pop-up would be useful as well.

not that keen on the monochrome / black white emojis
I can understand some symbols being monochrome but smileys etc?
In fact, no coloured emoji for basic stuff like cry.Developer response

Hi,
so you do see issues with Windows 7 fonts.
In this case, that's likely, because Windows 7 is not supported anymore and does not bundle all the latest emojis in it's font.
As said, however, you can also solve your issue by choosing another emoji style that does not use the system emojis. To do that, right-click on the icon of the extension, choose “Manage extension” → “Settings” and choose a different icon set next to “emoji design”.
If this solves your problem it would be glad if you could adjust your voting.
Best regards,
rugk

Hi,
sorry for causing these inconveniences.
If you do only see black and white emojis, this may be a limitation of your operating system.
By default, this add-on uses the emojis of your system. For old Linux systems e.g., there may be only monochrome icons.
To troubleshoot this issue, we'd need more information about your system (i.e. what OS and what Firefox version do you use?). It would be glad if you could open an issue on https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/issues/ and fill out the details there, so we can fix this problem in the next release.
However, you can also already solve your issue by choosing another emoji style. To do that, right-click on the icon of the extension, choose “Manage extension” → “Settings” and choose a different icon set next to “emoji design”.
By default, this extension uses your system emojis, but there are different styles available and they all look quite great.
If this helped, it would be glad if you could adjust your voting.
Best regards,
rugk - Rated 3 out of 5by arnieclairemb, 5 years agoI installed this just for the pleading eye emoji.. But nothing.. also the flags are not the flag emoji.. just big acronyms of countries.. This would be awesome, but nah for me as of now
Developer response
posted 5 years agoThe Emoji you are referring to (https://emojipedia.org/pleading-face/) is unfortunately not yet supported in the Unicode version the add-on uses.
However, support for more new Emojis is planned and tracked in https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/issues/34. It will be released in one of the future updates, but we depend on other developers (upstream libraries) to make this happen. See the GitHub issue for more details.
Thus it may unfortunately take some time.
If you do only see two-letter codes for the country flags, this may be a limitation of your operating system.
If you use Windows, Windows does not have flag icons for all these countries currently.
However, you can solve that by choosing another emoji style. To do that, right-click on the icon of the extension, choose “Manage extension”, “Settings” and choose a different icon set next to “emoji set”.
By default, this extension uses your system emojis, but there are different styles available and they all have proper emoji flags.
If you have further issues or questions, feel free to ask or suggest a feature by opening an issue on https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/issues/. Thanks.
If this helped, it would be glad if you could adjust your voting.
