by Graysongdl, 2 years agoOnly works on Google Docs "documents". While one would assume a dark mode extension for Google Docs would work for ALL services under the Google Docs umbrella, or at the very least Google Docs spreadsheets, it only works strictly with its namesake, which to me would be like adding a dark mode for YouTube videos, but thrusting the user back into light mode as soon as they view a YouTube livestream vod. Its description isn't incorrect, but it is just a bit misleading when I can still be on "docs.google.com" and not have a dark theme.
Doesn't even affect the colors on the main screen (where it lists your documents for you to choose which one to view), making it really jarring to switch between light and dark repeatedly.
I'm also surprised it doesn't have the ability to invert black text (to make it white) without also inverting all other colors. Works fine for grayscale colors, but when it also HAS to turn red text cyan, it makes it hard to view documents formatted by/for people who don't use this extension. The only fix for this is to turn ALL text grayscale, which might be fine for people who don't mess around with formatting very much, but not for me.
All in all, technically does what it advertises decently enough, but is lacking in features. I suppose I'll keep it installed just to darken the bar at the top if I can't find a better solution.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 17465660, 10 days agoI've been really enjoying this extension, but this newest update has made documents extremely laggy. I would like to keep using it because it really hurts my eyes, but it just isn't reasonable to do so. I will keep trying to use it and I will update my review if it is fixed.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19009215, 10 days agoDoes not work at all. Says Dark Mode is running but screen remains blinding white. Tried turning it off then back on, tried restarting the browser, just does not work at all. Useless waste of time
- Rated 2 out of 5by PotentiallyHacker, 11 days agoI've been using this plugin for a while, and it started out great, but some time over the last 6-8 months they released an update that has just been severely lagging docs whenever I run it with after dark. To the point where it becomes unreasonably difficult to even navigate the document, until this is fixed I can't recommend it.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 17545505, 12 days agoIt's great when it works well, but every time it updates, it reverts back to what seems like the earliest version for some reason. Please fix.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Mr.Yellow, 23 days agoThis is everything I'm looking for but sadly this is causing some lag on longer documents.
- Rated 1 out of 5by almighty loaf, 25 days agoThe text color doesn't change in Docs, making text illegible. The extension doesn't work at all in Sheets.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 18979367, a month agoThe color schemes are very good, but it is terribly laggy beyond the point of practicality. I suspect this happened in an update?
- Rated 5 out of 5by Guillotine, a month agoAmazing add-on! Just saw the little sun on the bottom left of the google docs that lets you toggle between the two modes.
- Rated 1 out of 5by hannah, a month agoI can't see any text on my documents no matter how I change the text color. It also permanently alters my documents even after deleting the extension. I would really support the extension if I could fix this, but no solution is working. Would appreciate some guidance.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Moil, 2 months agoDoesn't work in main menu but works perfectly in the doc itself!! Which honestly is all you need. Even has a little toggle if you ever need to change back and forth

- Rated 5 out of 5by Josepromedio, 4 months agoExtremely good extension, there were some bugs with the latest update, but it was rolled back, to anyone having issues, just reinstall the extension. Great dev by the way!
- Rated 5 out of 5by Maik, 4 months agoWorks great, just the "Document tabs" button is white, which is annoying, but I am sure it will be fixed soon. Thanks in advance!
- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 18796062, 4 months agoThis has worked well for a while, but the most recent update now causes google drive/docs to lag/slow down significantly while writing and navigating menus if dark mode is enabled. It was better before the update and I'm really sad to see it cause performance problems now.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Sira0909, 4 months agothe extention works great, but its annoying that to have text be in color any grayscale text doesn't switch to contrast background.
