by Belayet, 2 months agoYouTube now defaults to AV1. The extension was last updated 6 years ago, so it still only blocks VP8/VP9.
EDIT: After changing this setting to false in about:config it works: media.av1.enabled

- Rated 4 out of 5by Kougeru, 6 days agoLast update 6 years ago but it still works and it's become more needed than ever now that YouTube is defaulting to a super low bitrate AV1 that looks god awful. thank you, wherever you are
The downside is this also disables resolutions higher than 1080p. So we have to choose between uglier 140p - 1080p videos or no 1440p+. Ugh - Rated 5 out of 5by Sengonul35, 2 months ago

- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 18571964, 8 months agoKills that pesky AV1 but it's a shame VP9 was caught in the crossfire as YouTube preforms much worse trying to broadcast VP9 as H.264. Just use Enhanced h264ify.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Miłosz, a year agoJeżeli nie oglądasz w rozdzielczości wyżej niż 1080p to polecam zainstalować bo po pierwsze możliwy płynniejszy film, po drugie mniejsze zużycie prądu ponieważ stój sprzęt potrzebuje mniej prądu, a po trzecie jeżeli chcesz to możesz zajrzeć w kod tego rozszerzenie, czyli możesz zweryfikować że nie zbiera żadnych danych

- Rated 5 out of 5by Neleot, a year agoPerfect. Got an i5 6300hq, was having ~50% CPU usage while watching 1080p@60fps. With this i got 25-30% CPU usage. Thank you!
