- Rated 3 out of 5by John Doe, 11 days agoFirefox Orbit is a decent summarization tool, but it falls short for users who want flexibility. It does not support external API keys like Google Gemini or OpenAI, making it useless for those who prefer other AI models.
Since it's not open source and doesn’t allow custom APIs, its claims about privacy and data security feel questionable. - Rated 3 out of 5by Ron, a month agoGreat extension, but needs multilingual support.
Orbit is a great and well-designed extension for summarizing web pages, but it's limited to English. It would be highly beneficial to add support for other languages or include an option to translate summaries into the user's preferred language. This would make the extension more universal and accessible to a broader audience. Looking forward to future updates—thank you for the great work so far!Developer response
posted a month agoThank you for your feedback! This is very high up on our priority at this moment.
We've been receiving a lot of request for multi-language support and we're in the process of testing models that will provide satisfactory results for the most used/requested languages. - Rated 3 out of 5by aditya, 2 months agoquite decent but the button really needs to disappear when fullscreen video is playing atleast in minimal mode, its extremely distracting and blocks content. This is the only real issue i have with it but it makes it quite unusable
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 17541499, 2 months agoI will be following the project with interest. Surprisingly, there is no repository for this extension. Also, no communication platform has been created. For example, a discord server.
The extension is obviously designed for Firefox. Why does its design seem so foreign to the browser's design? Isn't this part of the same ecosystem? I agree with all the comments about the support for different languages, the dark mode, and the annoying extension icon. - Rated 3 out of 5by advonaut, 2 months agoPls allow user to write and save the prompt per domain. For example, when I am on court awards webpage, I want the summary (prompt) to be specific to that type of content. Other pages with different type of content would need other prompts.
Also, pls remove the Orb and do not use orbs in the UX any more. Ever. - Rated 3 out of 5by HumanistAtypik, 2 months agoUnderstands perfectly high level French inputs, but refuses strictly to translate anything from English to French. System prompt must be uselessly too restrictive! Please improve it!
- Rated 3 out of 5by Filip, 2 months agoIs there going to be added languages other than English? There are open-source models with a similar number of parameters that have better language capabilities, eg llama

- Rated 3 out of 5by FrogPog, 4 months agoI really like this addon! You can summarize giant webpages/videos into some sentences! But, it have some issues: 1. Minimal orb format always snaps to right border. Would be nice if user could snap it to the left, bottom or top. 2 Orb position resets when changing tabs / going to another link. 3. Orb sometimes randomly disappears (enabling on/off don't help) (yeah my english is very bad because it's not my first language 😄)
- Rated 3 out of 5by Y33N, 5 months agoI will agree with other users and say this can be a very successful project but it needs some touch ups. An ability to adjust the widget how we want with no fuss or remove it altogether and learn to be more inclusive of peoples needs as its being added, like DeArrow, for example.

posted 4 months agoThank you for this feedback! We've just made a patch that addresses some of your concerns and will be continuing our efforts to be more inclusive of our user needs as we continue to improve the Beta version of Orbit. - Rated 3 out of 5by GDiSalvo, 5 months agoIt works great, but I agree with other reviews: the persistent floating button is ugly, and when I put it in sleep mode, I couldn't find how to restore it. I want it sitting in the toolbar, just like the other addons. And you repeat the same mistake as with the "Translate this page" feature: you assume English for the user language, and don't provide flexibility to customize exactly how and when we want translations.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Shikogo, 5 months agoI am glad that there's now a much less sketchy addon to summarize youtube videos. However, I have to agree that I hate the floating widget. My solution is to have it disabled and only enable it as needed, but I wish there was a setting to just hide it in the toolbar and the open as you click it. The floating blob is awful.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Fxdemiurg, 6 months agoWhy such a big icon? Generalization only in English is a minus. But I found a way out of this situation. :) The icon appears on sites where I do not want to see the icon and do not want the application to work on these sites, for example sites related to finance. This is important! Please fix this! Make a setting - a black list that prohibits work on sites included in this list. If I click the close button on the icon on one site, then Orbit is disabled on all sites. This is not correct operation due to lack of blacklist.
