On the other hand, the default voice that comes with the extension is almost unintelligible and you might have to listen to it a couple of times at first before you get the hang of its rhythm. I'm not sure about changing the voice on a PC, but I can say for sure that on an MAC, the way the developer says to do it, well, it doesn't work. If it did this would be a 5 star app and I'd pay for the app!!! I mean seriously. It's really this app or "Read Aloud", and Read Aloud takes about 30 seconds to load the content before it starts to read. This is much faster. It just sounds like total crap.
Please Joel, come back to this project and make some updates. Give the mac users the abilities to select custom voices. I know it would be worth my money.
Here's an idea, make the ability to change basic voices part of the app. I'm talking about low resolution ones. But then add the ability for "premium" voices (Voices that require >200MB of data? For all the voices your system has access to?). You could put these behind a paywall and charge $10.00 for a lifetime subscription to your program. However, that also means that you have to keep your software working. Well, for as long as people were still using it at least. Pretty sweet deal as you'd be the only one with this type of app on Firefox. Joel, I had to search to find your app, there's not much out there that can read to you. It's really great for people with ADHD.
