I listen to background music while working and I get very easily distracted by the recommended videos so I wanted a way of hiding them. Although this extension did darken the area around the video, I found it wasn't dark enough and would like a way of deciding how dark it gets. Otherwise it's very handy.
Edit:
I didn't realise there was an option to set the opacity. I only tried to find options by right clicking the extension. Changed to 5 stars, very helpful extension.

In the Turn Off the Lights Welcome Guide I explain this feature. There are many ways to set the dark layer to 100% black. You can do that in the Turn Off the Lights Options page; Or in the double-click on the gray lamp button, that will open the mini settings panel. See this YouTube video tutorial:
