- Rated 1 out of 5by Skinny Pete, 3 years agoThis is the worst software update i've ever seen in my life, everything was working good until you decided to ruin it with this ridiculous, useless, dangerous update.
Like a lot of other people wrote in these last days, something is wrong with RAM usage, in my case it freeze my PC for minutes, not only the browser.
Don't trust you anymore, never using this again.Developer response
posted 3 years agoCan't remember we ever made such a decision. Can't imagine how would have it looked like.
Like we wrote to other people in these last days, resetting the extension storage should help resolve the issue. - Rated 5 out of 5by dare2live, 3 years agoJust want to report that doing a full "Wipe Out And Reset" under "Settings" completely solved the memory leak/build-up issue! Some weird UI issues (affecting other Firefox addons as well) also disappeared after the reset.
(Hopefully more Firefox users are able to figure this out, or they might think it's an issue with a Firefox update & switch browsers... >.<)Developer response

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15427212, 3 years agoCurrently (1/7/22), Ant takes up more than 5Gb of memory rendering Firefox unusable.
Developer response
posted 3 years agoCurrently, we're unable to reproduce the issue, but we suspect it may be caused when updating from version 4.9 to 4.10, and then to 4.11-4.12.
The problem may be in the data left from version 4.9. Unlike Chromium-based browsers, Firefox does not delete extension storage when you uninstall it, even in debugging mode.
Try resetting Ant Video downloader, go to Settings - Reset, click the WIPE OUT AND RESET button. This will delete any data in the extension storage, and reload the extension.
Let us know in the support if this helps you solve the issue.
Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14554338, 3 years agobe very careful with this, there's a huge memory leak, I was at 20,000mb yes 20gb in my firefox browser in the last week or so, 01-06-2022 and I thought something was wrong with my net connection, updating games or devices, nothing, and I turned off about 25 addons in firefox, it was the ant. it took over 5-6gb just in the main window with nothing in it waiting to browse with some text boxes of other interesting news ff plops on there for $. when the meory leak is fixed, I'll put this back to 5/5.

Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience. - Rated 1 out of 5by Gullideckel, 3 years agoIt worked great until today. Now it eats all the RAM it can get and a lot of CPU immediately after browser startup. Currently, the addon makes using the browser impossible, so I had to disable it.

Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience. - Rated 5 out of 5by Moha, 3 years agoUPDATE:
After deleting the addon and adding it again, the addon seems to work great. No memory leaks at all.
I am updating my score to 5 stars
ORIGINAL:
It was working great some weeks ago. Now it's impossible to work with it.
Has huge memory leaks when I open it. Firefox ends taking all of my RAM (12 GB of my 16GB). My computer gets laggy and I have to close Firefox just 5 minutes after opening it.
I will disable the addon until this big issue gets fixed.
It was a great addon, but not anymore. - Rated 5 out of 5by Seb, 3 years agoEDIT:
Many thanks dev team, the reset solution solve the memory leak issue.
Back to 5 stars !
I had to retry several times because even getting the settings tab clicking on the icon was imposssible due to memory leak bug triggering immediately after start.
So you're probably right the extension storage was corrupted after upgrade and caused this bug.
Why not releasing a new version which auto-resets at first start after installation in order to solve the issue for everyone ?
I used this shortcut to get into the settings without the annoying button bug (UUID should be different, identify with Firefox "about:performance" tab):
moz-extension://b3f1c4cd-c575-44b6-b256-5524cf739da3/ui/frontend/dist/settings.html
Then, first reset try hanged (memory leak again).
Next time I uninstalled extension/ restart Firefox / reinstalled the extension and used the reset option again which at last succceeded
thank you for posting this solution !Developer response
posted 3 years agoGlad to hear the problem is gone.
Regarding the auto-reset of storage on install, good point, we'll implement right in the next release.
Contact support if you need any kind of assistance with AVD.
Thanks! - Rated 1 out of 5by Dwan, 3 years agoThis Addon used to be so great so this pains me to write this review.
The new update after V4.8 messed everything up on my PC. This update made my browser so slow and laggy that I thought I had malware on my computer. I even uninstalled and reinstalled my browser and performed a system restore which all turned out to be unnecessary because the culprit of my problems was right under my nose all along and I didn't even know it.
Once I disabled the Ant Downloader performance on my browser all returned to normal with no more lagging. I hate to say it but this is a BAD extension now and I don't intend to use it anymore unless their are same massive changes in the works to get this extension back on track.
Do better AVD!Developer response
posted 3 years agoSorry you had to perform extra steps to restore normal browser activity. Next time try running Firefox in safe mode first (firefox.exe -safe-mode).
Our TO-DO list with new features that users send to support and want them in AVD does not fit the screen. There is such term as "growth pain": sometimes we're making big changes to AVD to extend it and make new features possible. Inevitably there will be issues at first; version 4.10-4.12 is the largest change since 2017. No matter how well we test each version before release, there can be pitfalls we're unaware of unless we release the version to the wide public.
Please, perform reset of the extension at Settings - Reset, and let us know if you still encountering the issues.
Thank you. - Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 14093081, 3 years agoUPDATE 2-16-2022
It's broken again. Please fix!
Does exactly what it's supposed to do. A clean install fixed the memory leak issue.
*SOLVED*
Used to be amazing, but now has a serious bug that maxes out your CPU and RAM usage. Be careful with this one.Developer response
posted 3 years agoInstall the latest version 4.12, update Native app, perform reset of the extension (at Settings - Reset).
Check if you have enabled option "Try to process ciphered URLs" at Settings - Video detection - YouTube. It may hang the extension (but not the browser) for a while.
Contact support and provide more information on your issue.

- Rated 5 out of 5by BluTGI, 3 years agoThis add-on is still the best at what it does. When Down-Them-All failed, it's the only thing that's worked.
Please, next time, don't release a new rebuild of your work before major holidays. Wait, test it some more, then drop it when you can fix it.
Love the work, thanks for the fix! Updated 1/8/22Developer response
posted 3 years agoThank you for your report and rating.
Well, we write that developers are working on a fix because it is really it is, what else can we write? The new version is already released.
Releasing before or after holidays won't make much difference, because making a fix will take days to develop and test.
Will be appreciated for more feedbacks from you, thanks again. - Rated 5 out of 5by Alex Gor, 3 years ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by parkj, 3 years agoI'm not sure what happened to my go-to video downloader after this "update". It shows every type of media for download in a cluttered UI and the list of issues goes on and on.

In case of any problems with downloading please contact with more details to our support here: https://www.ant.com/support_form - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16533722, 3 years agoUp until a few days ago before it was updated, this was the go-to downloader fo me. Now it takes forever (up to 5-10 minutes for the videos to be detected) and there is no button to clear the cache. It still lists downloads on sites from several week ago which totally clutters the video list. I've had to remove the add-on and reload it to try to clear this annoying cache memory.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Joshua, 3 years agoWhat once was great with release 4.9, is now 100% junk with version 4.10. Instead of just listing vids, downloading/downloaded it now logs every vid that runs on any web or social media site. There are better, easier, to use, down-loaders for YouTube, Twitter, Facebook ect..., than Ant. Just wait until you try to delete or clear the Ant list. What fun that is. IMO, ANT is nothing more than another form of spy/tracking ware. I have dumped it and will not go back to it after reloading version 4.9. that now runs with the newer junk as well.

Worst update ever...
There is not just 1 problem, there are many.
The popup to start the download only appears as a small white line, downloads simply stall, the list of videos grows and grows and cannot be reduced in size.
It used to be great, but now it is a mess...
Please, in the next update, go back to a simplified and user-friendly version !Developer response

The popup to start the download only appears as a small white line, downloads simply stall, the list of videos grows and grows and cannot be reduced in size. (Why can't I turn this off), deleting does not work, the browser now always needs 1 complete CPU (with me about 12% CPU load), the video lists for download do not update, the UI remains, although the download probably continues in the background goes, the new UI is terribly confusing. I have to click 20 times before I get the list of the latest downloads. (This is actually the only list I need, the others are superfluous) ...Developer response
